On Beyond the Gates, Vanessa was upset that Deanna was ignoring her and feared Joey might leave her. Joey reassured her that she had opened his heart after his ex-wife's infidelity.

Leslie treated the recovering Peaches to country club indulgences. She confronted Vernon about blocking her "shouse" project, stressing her desire to be part of Fairmont Crest. Vernon criticized her for wasting Barbara’s trust money.

Bill was concerned about Anita's rapid decline and told Hayley he wanted to postpone having a baby. Dani asked Nicole if she had made a choice between Kial and Carlton, and while Nicole liked Carlton, she was leaning toward Kial.

When Anita's pain worsened, Vernon persuaded her to go to the hospital. Shanice consulted Monica after Anita expressed her wish to sign a do-not-resuscitate order and stop chemotherapy. Following her family’s pleas, Anita tore up the DNR, discovering her pain was due to a chemo-related infection.

Sharon visited to support Anita. Later, Anita asked Bill to be her estate executor instead of Vernon, which honored Bill.

To take her mind off Anita, Kat asked Tomás about Lynette’s embezzlement case that Bill dismissed. Tomás found nothing significant in his background check on Lynette, leading Kat to suspect she was hiding something. Tomás tried to flirt with Lynette for info, but she saw through it, witnessed by Hayley. Bill fumed to learn Tomás had shown an interest in another woman.

Randy claimed his interest in Lynette stemmed from loneliness. After hearing different versions of Lynette’s story, Hayley and Randy agreed she could pose a threat.

Smitty felt guilty when his contact, Max, was stabbed. Jacob was shaken by Ren's warning that the only way out of the organization was death. Grayson impressed Jacob by sneaking Max out of the hospital before Ren's men got to him. Jacob didn't believe that Grayson had not yet met the ring's leaders after a year as a courier.

Izaiah understood Darlene's anxiety over Jacob being undercover and tried to borrow Naomi’s burner phone to contact him, but Naomi felt that that could endanger Jacob. Izaiah introduced Eva to Darlene, who disapproved since Eva was Leslie’s daughter.

Samantha asked Tyrell about inviting June to the cotillion. June wanted to volunteer at the clinic, unaware that Ren was in the diner. Naomi was upset after Bill nearly discovered her lie about Jacob's supposed absence for training.

Grayson refused to leave Ashley despite Jacob wanting to shield her from his part in the blood plasma ring. Jacob worked to locate Grayson's contact at the hospital. Lia positioned Grayson at the clinic and considered bringing Derek into the ring. In the elevator, Ashley encountered Grayson, unaware that Jacob was right behind them.
