On Beyond the Gates, Nicole has been dealing with a lot lately. Her mother’s cancer diagnosis, family history pressing in from all sides, a divorce that didn’t end cleanly, and new romantic possibilities arriving before the dust has fully settled. It’s been one of those stretches where the character barely gets to exhale. This week, Daphnee Duplaix stepped outside the story and shared something personal of her own, posting a poem that spoke directly to pain, faith, and the slow work of endurance.Beyond the Gates star lets the words stand on their own View this post on Instagram Instagram PostDuplaix kept the caption on her Instagram post simple and direct, writing, “New poem: I thought God forgot about me ~ Daphnee Duplaix.” No putting it in some kind of context and no explanation. Just the words and the space to sit with them.In the attached video, she spoke plainly before reading. She said, “Hey guys, so I will be honest, this has been a very tough, emotional week for me.” She added that there were a lot of personal issues going on, “But we're getting through it, because that is what we do.”She also gave a nod to those who’ve helped her during this difficult time, “because they always have my back, even if it's just to make me laugh. Make me laugh instead of cry. My village means the world to me.”Letting the moment speakBeyond the Gates' Daphnee Duplaix as Nicole | Image Source: ParamountShe then read a new poem that reflected her thoughts: “There was a moment in time I thought, God forgot about me. Haven’t we all had that feeling, no matter how much faith we have? I was left bleeding in the dark, screaming into empty spaces with a shattered heart. Days turned into months of silence, nights that swallowed hope whole, crawling through mud and ashes just to prove I could survive. I thought God forgot about me when my knees hit concrete floors, begging for a single answer while the devil knocked on doors.”The actress continued her beautiful words, explaining that depression told her she was “abandoned,” anxiety insisted she was “alone,” and fear became her constant companion. Still, something inside her refused to give up, a quiet voice urging her to “keep fighting” when she had nothing left. What felt like abandonment became a place of transformation, where silence turned into a call to “be still” and breaking became preparation. In the end, she realized she hadn’t been forgotten at all, but carried through the darkest moments and reshaped by them. She ended with, “God didn’t forget me. He was forging me in fire.”Fan response was immediate, with @lachrisbook writing, “Thank you, D. Yes, God did not ‘lose your file’… Gratitude for this poem.” @lgrouppr added, “Thank you for sharing, I needed to hear this.” And @cecelia_specht called it “simply beautiful,” while @beutii_nish thanked her for the vulnerability and reminded her she clearly has a strong village behind her.Duplaix didn’t steer the moment. She let it unfold. Sometimes that’s the point. You say the thing honestly, and you let the rest arrive on its own.
