Beyond the Gates star Daphnée Duplaix, who plays Nicole, believes she's hit the jackpot when it comes to TV moms, as hers is Tamara Tunie, who plays Anita Dupree, the matriarch of the Dupree family. The actress recently shared just how fond she is of her BTG mama.

Beyond the Gates Duplaix praises Tunie

Duplaix expressed her feelings about Tunie on the occasion of her birthday, which was last weekend. "I am so deeply blessed to share a set, a scene, and a story with this exquisite woman every single day," Duplaix shared on Instagram, "@msttunie is not just a legend — she is a living lesson.

"Her joie de vivre is the gold standard of how a life is meant to be lived — with grace, with fire, with laughter that fills every room before she even speaks," continues Duplaix.

"Her strength is the kind that doesn’t announce itself. It simply is. Unmeasurable. Unshakeable. Undeniable," Tunie's TV daughter states.

"To watch her work is to be in the presence of pure artistry. To know her is a gift I don’t take lightly," adds Duplaix. "Today we celebrate YOU, beautiful soul. May this year return to you every drop of joy, beauty, and magic that you pour into the world. I love you. Happy Birthday. 🥂🌹."

In January, Tunie and other members of the BTG company, including Duplaix, Clifton Davis (Vernon), and Karla Mosley (Dani), took part in a press conference to promote the series. Tunie was asked how she felt about her role as a mentor to some of the younger BTG cast members.

The actress feels that the younger players have grown and evolved, but that's just the beginning. "I'm ready to jump in and take them even further," Tunie responded. "It's like this -- acting doesn't stop, learning doesn't stop. We continue to grow. We continue to dig deeper. We continue to get better. You know, I'm so proud of our younger actors who, some of them, it was their first time even stepping in front of a camera, and they have done amazing work.

"I'm teed up here to be here and still continue to support them in their evolution," Tunie added, "not just on this show but as actors and artists in general."
