Beyond the Gates star Daphnée Duplaix and Y&R's Michelle Stafford recreate a classic Dynasty battle

The Beyond the Gates crossover with The Young and the Restless isn't set to take place until June. However, two of the show's stars, Daphnée Duplaix of BTG and Michelle Stafford of Y&R, have already teamed up to recreate a classic moment from Dynasty that starred Diahann Carroll and Joan Collins.

Beyond the Gates of Dynasty

The year was 1984, and Diahann Carroll made a splash as the latest star to join the cast of Dynasty. She was cast as the enigmatic Dominique Deveraux, a woman of considerable means and class. It wouldn't be until the following season that viewers would learn that she was the half-sister of Blake Carrington (John Forsythe).

Even before she became her adversary, Alexis Carrington Colby, played by Collins, didn't like what she was hearing about the newcomer to Denver and wanted to know why she was asking her so many questions.

Dominique arrived at Alexis's penthouse and thanked her for inviting her. "You weren't invited," Alexis remarked. "I sent for you."

What followed was a cat-and-mouse game of back and forth as the two women sized each other up.

Duplaix and Stafford recreated the next bit of the Dominique/Alexis interaction when Dominique sipped some of the champagne that Alexis had had served.

Burned, baby, burn

"It's burned," Duplaix said, taking on the role of Dominique. "Is it?" asked Stafford, taking the part of Alexis.

"The champagne was obviously frozen in the bottle at some point," Duplaix continued as Dominique.

"If the champagne is too burned for your taste, Miss Devereux, don't drink it," Stafford as Alexis snarked, directing her attention to the food that was on display. "The caviar, I trust, is not burned."

"I really wouldn't know," Duplaix delivered as Dominique. "This is Osetrova, and I prefer Petrossian Belugas."

Dominique's knowing the finer foods in life, naturally, did not sit well with Alexis, which added to the already growing tension between the two women.

"Me and my sister from another mister, my new best friend! The beautiful @theonlydaphneeduplaix ❤️ This is our @beyondthegatescbs @youngandrestlesscbs collab," shared Stafford.

"The BTG & Y&R crossover begins!!!" cheered Duplaix.
