Heather Tom (Katie Logan), The Bold and the Beautiful
Tamara Tunie (Anita Williams Dupree), Beyond The Gates
And the Winner Is...
Soap vet Tamara Tunie ultimately took home the gold after a year that offered its fair share of drama, heartache, and triumph.
"This is the best welcome back to daytime ever. There's a host of black actresses who paved the way for me, beginning with the legendary Cicely Tyson, the first Black woman to appear on a daytime drama series. That was Guiding Light."
Tunie has been a member of the soap opera community since the 1980s when she began playing Jessica Griffin on As the World Turns. She played Jessica on and off for more than two decades before embarking on a successful primetime career that inclued a long role on Law and Order: Special Victims Unit.
Tunie offered quite a performance during BTG's inaugural year as she acted out a compelling breast cancer story that was both heartbreaking and educational. On BTG, she is the matriarch of the Dupree family who hasn't forgotten her musical roots.
Soap Central congratulates Tamara Tunie on her Daytime Emmy win, as well as all the winners at the 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards.
