Beyond and the Gates and The Young and the Restless crossed over earlier this year when characters from Genoa City visited Fairmont Crest! Now, two actors from BTG and two from Y&R are facing off against each other on Flip Side, the game show hosted by Jaleel White (Family Matters).BTG and Y&R Meet on the Flip Side View this post on Instagram Instagram PostBTG's Colby Nixon (Kat Richardson) and RhonniRose Mantilla (Chelsea Hamilton) are competing against Y&R's Christel Khalil (Lily) and Bryton James (Devon) on Flip Side, the game show that does a fresh take on the Q&A, survey-based game show. Watch for the two teams to test their opponents on how they think groups of people feel about the same topic. Winnings are donated to charity!Soap Central chatted with Nixon and Mantilla about competing against Khalil and James, who, as fans of Family Matters know, have a connection to that show, and to White, too!Not only did James appear on Family Matters as Richie Crawford, but so did Khalil. She played the part of Angela for an episode in Season 8."I have to say my husband's family loves game shows," Nixon enthuses to Soap Central. "They watch all of them. So, they are very excited to see us on the show. The one thing I was nervous about was that I thought this was going to be like Jeopardy! I was never too good at that!""We're big fans of Family Feud at my house," Mantilla shares. "A week after we taped the show, I was at my doctor's and saw [Flip Side] on in the waiting room."The actresses' on and off-screen rapport came in handy for their teamwork on the show. "We trust each other," Nixon says. "In the second or third round, one person has to answer, and we'd trust the other to make the decision. It helps that we trust each other!"What was it like competing against their Y&R pals? "It was really fun," Nixon says. "We talked behind the scenes, but once we got on set, [it was competitive]. Bryton and Christel are super easy-going and very down-to-earth."Did the history that their opponents shared with the host give the Y&R team an advantage? "We have a theory," Mantilla muses. "We didn't come as prepared. Next time, if we get a chance to challenge them again, we'll come at them harder!""We did not know about the Family Matters connection until we got to set," Nixon said. "Jaleel came out, and he was, 'Oh, my gosh! It's so good to see you again!' We were like, 'What is going on?' And then he came to us and said, 'Nice to meet you.' I have to say that Jaleel was so welcoming and wonderful, and it was awesome being in front of a live studio audience."Conflict for Chelsea and KatRhonniRose Mantilla as Chelsea Hamilton and Colby Nixon as Katherine Richardson | Image: CBSOn the Friday, September 18, episode of BTG, watch for Kat to turn the tables on Chelsea. How does the duo manage to survive conflicts?"When Kat and Chelsea aren't speaking, they always come back together and find a way to work out any conflicts," Nixon says."That's pretty spot on," Mantilla concurs. "They're close. They have moments of loving each other and laughing, and so when they fight, it's super low. It's one or the other. We always come back to each other.""It's important that we find a way to come back to one another, and that they're not fighting, as Kat and Eva [Ambyr Michelle] do," Nixon says.A Third CrossoverThere could be more crossovers with BTG and Y&R | Image: CBS, JPINow that BTG and Y&R have met in Fairmont Crest and on the game show circuit, where could they appear next together? Maybe the Dupree family v. the Newmans, Abbotts, or the Forresters of The Bold and the Beautiful."Yes. That would be so much fun!" Nixon says. "I think a lot of fans watch [all three soaps]. I'd love to see more of that.""I say, 'Let's do them all and win them all!'" Mantilla says.Check out the BTG and Y&R crossover episode of Flip Side on Monday, September 14, at 5 p.m. ET on the Game Show Network; also, check your local listings as the show airs in syndication.
