The Beyond the Gates and The Young and the Restless crossover is finally happening! Six cast members from Genoa City are visiting Fairmont Crest, and the action begins on Tuesday, June 9. Y&R's Bryton James and BTG's Karla Mosley sat down with Soap Central for an exclusive preview.
Beyond the Gates & Y&R stars together again -- for the first time!
Next week, Devon Winters (Bryton James) and Dani Dupree Richardson (Karla Mosley) are set to meet at a political fundraising gala for Dani's nephew, Martin (Brandon Claybon). But this isn't the first time that James and Mosley have shared screentime.
The actress stepped in to briefly play the part of Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan's role) opposite James's Devon back in 2021. Mosley recalls that she played Amanda in 2021, towards the tail end of COVID. "I was 22 weeks pregnant," Mosley recalls. "We had to stand 6 feet apart -- and be in love!"
This time, of course, is a different story in terms of how close the actors could be. "It was really nice to be able to stand each other and shake hands and progress whatever backstory that they want to give us," Mosley enthuses.
Except for his visit to see Mariah (Camryn Grimes) at the clinic, where she's receiving care, this will be Devon's first time away from his son, Dominic (Ethan Ray Clark), since his kidnapping.
"I imagine [Devon and Abby, played by Melissa Ordway] have maximum security back home, or he's with Ashley [Eileen Davidson]," James muses. "I think Devon has gotten over what has happened with his son, but of course, they're going to be extremely cautious forever, moving forward."
The winds of change
A promo teases that a tornado is going to hit the big fundraiser, causing havoc. and lives will be placed in jeopardy. "That was one of the coolest parts of the whole experience," James says. "It was probably one of the biggest production events that I've ever been a part of, aside from when they built an entire zoo set on another soundstage [on Y&R]."
There have been crossovers between BTG and Y&R and The Bold and the Beautiful in the past. Devon visited Fairmont Crest to offer Anita Dupree (Tamara Tunie) a record deal. Also, Dani had a phone call with Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) about modeling.
Those story beats were brief, compared to next week's more elaborate crossover. Would James and Mosley like to see even more?
"That would be really exciting," Mosley says. "It'd be fun for all of us to continue to be able to experience different sets, directors, and people. As an artist, it's quite invigorating. I think the fans would love it, too."

"Yeah, we've got multiple shows to play with between the CBS family, so if the fans want to see it, [they] should let [the powers that be] know," James adds.
