The AI (Artificial Intelligence) story on The Young and the Restless has mostly played out as Victor now has control of Newman Enterprises again. However, all won't be right in Genoa City until law and order are once again implemented in Genoa City. Patty's recent reign of terror had us thinking she was going to literally get away with murder!
Not With Her Daughter

Diane (Susan Walters) had a dream that Jack (Peter Bergman) and Patty (Stacy Haiduk) had had a daughter. Did Patty miscarry Jack's baby all those years ago when she walked in on him and Diane being intimate?
We've seen soap opera head writers reveal years later that miscarriages were actually stillborns who actually turned out to be switched at birth, and presto! An "overnight" grown child is in the mix!
If Patty and Jack have a daughter (and right now, that's not looking likely), let's hope she's a lawyer. Patty is going to need an expert attorney to represent her, given her recent crimes -- conspiracy to kidnap Diane, assault on Jack with a knife, setting Diane up to take the fall, trying to kill Jack, and assault on Diane with a syringe of digitalis (a drug that can trigger fatal and highly irregular heart rhythms -- #themoreyouknow).
Patty's reign of terror continued a bit longer than we expected it to during last week because she had set Diane up to take the fall. Yes, she was convincing to the police that Diane was the culprit, but why the heck did authorities believe her, given her past stints in sanitariums for committing horrible crimes?
Yes, Kyle (Michael Mealor) is Diane's son, but he's still a perfectly valid alibi. His telling the cops that he was with his mother should have been reason enough for her not to be arrested.
Were Diane's prints on the bloody knife? No! Maybe if the writers had had Diane pick up the knife out of impulse, then her prints would have been on the weapon. Did Diane have a history of violence? Patty sure does.
Didn't the police see the bars on the windows at Dr. Markham's (Jere Burns) home? Wouldn't that have supported Diane's position that she'd been held there against his will? Diane was kept in custody for a bit, and Patty was allowed to walk out the door. Diane and Kyle opted to leave Jack alone with only a day player guard watching him. When will the Abbotts and the Newmans and everyone else who can afford af full-time security squad, simply hire one! Make it make sense!
Another Crossover, Please

If Diane needed some character witnesses to show that she and Jack were getting along just fine in recent weeks, all she'd have to do is invite half the cast of Beyond the Gates to come to Genoa City from its locale (Fairmont Crest!) to testify on her behalf. Everyone at the gala saw Jack and Diane getting along just great!
Fortunately, Jack didn't stay in a coma for too long following his attack. He was all ready to testify on Diane's behalf that it was Patty, who stabbed him -- not his wife!
By that time, Patty was in custody. The police may not have believed she stabbed Jack, but they believed that she tried to kill Diane. Kudos to Y&R for making use of the space within Television City (formerly CBS Television City) to heighten the danger Patty presented as she ran amok in the hospital.
Abbott, Elementary

Y&R scored big by bringing the entire Abbott clan together to support Jack. Billy (Jason Thompson) took time away from his drama with Jill (Lauren Koslow -- who did an admirable job stepping in for Jess Walton as Jill) to go to his brother's bedside.
Traci, the heart and soul of the Abbott clan, was, of course, there. And Y&R invited Eileen Davidson back as Ashley. Missing, alas, was Abby (Melissa Ordway), Jack's niece. You'd think that Abby would be in a lot of stories given that she's a biological Newman (Victor's her dad) and Abbott (Ashley's her mom), but we never see her enough for our liking.
Det. Burrow (Matt Cohen) had his guard up against Patty when he questioned her about Jack's attack. How was Diane being held, but Patty wasn't when Det. Burrow didn't even talk to Dr. Markham yet? When Burrow did grill Markham, he appeared cautious, but he still went ahead and believed the evil doc.
Soap opera police are known for being more Keystone Cops than Stabler and Benson, and, alas, Burrow fell more into the former than the latter two.
Even if Burrow didn't know about Patty kidnapping Colleen (Tammin Sursok) all those years ago, which led to her death, Christine should know about it!
Instead of having Billy go off to London with Jill, we wish that Jill had just stayed in Genoa City a bit longer. Her name may be Jill Atkinson, as her most recent husband was the late Colin Atkinson (Tristan Rogers), but to millions of Y&R fans, Jill will always be known as Jill Foster Abbott.
Objection! Calls for a Conclusion!

Christine Blair Romalotti (Lauralee Bell), the current district attorney, erred on the side of not letting her personal relationships with Diane and Patty affect her judgment, but that was a mistake. Chris was Patty's sister-in-law during her marriage to Jack, even though she was off the canvas at the time. Chris pointed out to Michael (Christian LeBlanc) that Diane was a friend who'd been at her wedding.
If anything, Chris could have and, perhaps, should have excused herself from Jack's case. Heck, Chris was also, technically, Jack's stepsister for a short period of time, as her mother, the late Rebecca (Jessica Street), was briefly married to John Abbott (the late Jerry Douglas).
A judge would have understood, given Chris' ties to all the interested parties, that she wasn't the attorney for this particular case. Curiously, Michael told Diane that he had to ask her if she was innocent (duh, he knew she was) so they could proceed. Haven't we seen TV lawyers tell their clients that they don't ask them if they're guilty so that they can properly defend them? If they knew that they were guilty, they couldn't do that as easily.
Patty inflicted defensive wounds on her, which put some doubt as to whether or not she was the killer, but couldn't police scientists detect that the wounds were self-inflicted?
Victoria, Victorious

Victor (Eric Braeden) made it sound like it was a big deal or a surprise when he said that he was putting Victoria (Amelia Heinle) in charge of Newman Enterprises while he tended to Nikki's (Melody Thomas Scott) recovery. Nick (Joshua Morrow) was miffed. Really? Nick? Miffed? He's never truly had an aptitude for his father's business. He had his own company, Dark Horse, but that was a short-lived storyline. He gave up the suite of offices that was built for the story. Nick is more at home running a bar or Crimson Lights.
All the businesses in the business storylines -- Newman Enterprises, Jabot Cosmetics, Chancellor Industries, Arabesque, Newman Media, Abbott Communications, Spectra-Charles, and, our favorite, Summers Conglomorate (!) -- are moved around like chess pieces.
Why have we never met any of the little people who work at these companies who've had their lives thrown into turmoil, all because Cane (Billy Flynn) wanted to re-win Lily's (Christel Khalil). She was far more impressed by Cane donating bone marrow to Malcolm (Shemar Moore).
Through the Eyes of Love

A big deal is being made out of Victor allowing Nikki to move back onto the ranch. If he didn't, he'd be pretty, well, ruthless, wouldn't he? If the old ranch had never burned down (thanks, Sharon!), Nikki would have no problem getting around. She likely had every square inch of the place memorized.
The less said about the home that Victor and Nikki moved into after their first home was destroyed, the better. While the couple's third home is more similar to the first, there are differences -- like the front door being on the other side of the house.
Nikki's only had a few years in that place, so she needs to count out the steps from one part of the home to another. We're anxiously awaiting her bandages coming off and her vision returning. It can be blurry at first, but then she'll hear Victor's voice, which will allow her to focus more clearly.
Cue "Through the Eyes of Love," the couple's love song, which hasn't been played in many years due to, we can only assume, today's economic realities. But move the money around! Spring for the song and give us a big, sweeping, epic romantic moment when Victor professes his love for Nikki, and Nikki will see Victor, wait for it, through the eyes of love!
