All is right in Genoa City now that Victor is back in charge at Newman Enterprises, but The Young and the Restless can’t seem to get away from business storylines! Billy Abbott is determined to use a document he found that states John Abbott’s heirs own Chancellor Industries over an unpaid loan from John Abbott to Phillip Chancellor

The Story is Going to Live Till It Dies

The problem with the tale is that Katherine Chancellor doesn’t have much of a legacy presence on the show. Phillip II’s son, Phillip III, is back living in Australia, and he didn’t even attend his son, Chance (AKA Phillip IV)'s, wedding to Abby.

Abby and Chance split, and then he was killed off. Yes, Chance left behind a son, but Dominic (who has more last names than Erica Kane’s had marriages) is the biological son of Devon, and Devon is married to Abby. The reality is that, in time, Dom will likely come to treat Devon as the only father he knows.

Ironically, Devon has a tie to Katherine directly – he’s her grandson, as Devon’s dad is Tucker McCall. Where is that ruthless businessman in this story? Devon has recently shared that he hopes to spend more time doing philanthropic projects like establishing a school in the late Neil's honor. We don't see him in a boardroom fighting for his grandmother and honoring Neil at the same time.

John Abbott’s heirs taking Chancellor Industries will be, at best, anticlimactic. Lily, who has the company now, thanks to Victor, never had a true connection to Katherine. Plus, she’s got Winters, Inc. to run. But what big loss would it be if Billy didn’t get the company? He and John Abbott’s other children all have inherited wealth.

That’s been a big problem in all these business storylines. Phyllis used AI thievery to take Victor’s company. While we could understand her “have-not” approach, the bottom line is that she stole Victor’s company, illegally.

Lily, Kyle, Victoria, and Nick, as we’ve mentioned, are all “nepo babies.” It’s hard to get invested in the business stories when the players aren’t self-made business people.

A fight for Chancellor Industries needs to be more than just Billy v. Lily. If he wins, he'll take it over and find out that his mother doesn't feel any differently about him. Lily will devote all her time to Winters, Inc. If Lily wins...she'll run both companies? What are the stakes? Who are we rooting for to win?

Jill Foster Abbott Is a Key Player in Kay's Legacy

The reintroduction of Amber Moore could change all this. We were reminded last week that Amber wrote with Katherine, her memoir, “I’m Going to Live Till I Die.” (Amber's portrayer, Adrienne Frantz, first brought Amber to Genoa City 20 years ago!)

Amber would not only have information, potentially about this mysterious loan between Phillip and John, but she’d also go to the mat defending Katherine’s honor and fighting for what she believes were Kay’s last wishes!

It’s only going to take one cancelled check to send Billy into a tailspin and send him back to the drawing board.

The mention of Amber, all of a sudden, has made a story that wasn’t grabbing our attention (Billy’s a little old to be fighting for his mom’s approval) into a story that is grabbing our attention! Amber's return could change everything!

Y&R’s New “Vyle” Romance

Soap fans love to combine character names into one once a couple is formed. So, Victoria and Kyle would be either “Vyle” or “Kicktoria” (or maybe “Kicki”?). The decision to pair them together is set to turn the Newman/Abbott war on its ear!

Is Kyle using Victoria to get back at Victor? It’d be hard to blame him if that were the case. Victor didn’t support either Kyle’s marriage to Summer or his relationship with Claire. Of course, Victor will be opposed to this union as well. Along the way, Kyle might genuinely fall for Vicki. That’s what happened years ago when Jack wed Nikki to use her as a bargaining chip against the mustached mogul. He ended up falling for her, which he did not plan on doing!

Mademoiselle Marie

Traditionally, Y&R hasn’t had Victor and Nikki together and happy at the same time Nick and Sharon have been. Y&R teased a reunion between the two after they went through the ordeal of Nick almost dying last summer in France after Cane’s burly bodyguard got in a fight with Nick.

Nick and Sharon continued to bond after Noah was put in the hospital, thanks to Matt Clark running him off the road in Los Angeles. What’s all this leading to?

Y&R should explore Nick’s relationship with Marie. If she doesn’t end up being pregnant thanks to their motel romp, Marie could help Nick with his sobriety in a way that no one else in his life can. Who knows how that will bond them?

Playing Doctor

Dr. Stephanie Simmons was on the scene in Genoa City 30 years ago when Nate was a toddler. Now, he's all grown up and is a doctor. Well, he was until he got in a fight with Devon that left his hand injured, unable to perform surgery.

Now, Stephanie is helping Nate get the help he needs that could bring him back into the operating room. But what about the bedroom? Y&R wouldn't really go there with Stephanie and Nate, would they? Would they?

We can't see it happening, but then again, Kyle has bedded the mother of the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with not that long ago!

Nothing Left Unsaid

The good news is that Jack and Diane finally got some alone time following their respective kidnapping ordeals. They jetted off to Tahiti, where Diane, again, opened up about how badly she still feels about faking her death and leaving Kyle when he was so young, and walking out on Jack, too.

Killing off Diane was a bad move. Bringing her back was a great idea. Kudos to Y&R for not pretending like her “death” never happened. Viewers were asked to take a leap of faith when it came to accepting what had transpired.

You know whose exit wasn’t faked or presented as a "death"? Amber’s! She left town, popped back up on The Bold and the Beautiful, where she had a baby, and is available to make her way back to Genoa City!
