The Young and the Restless told a very touching tale at the holidays of Sally Spectra lamenting to Victoria Newman about her father and his similarities to Billy Abbott. Since the show might be setting the stage for Sally's dad to be cast, Soap Central is going to play armchair casting director and offer up some contenders who could play the role!
The Young and the Restless, a role all sewn up

Sally (Courtney Hope) recalled to Vicki (Amelia Heinle) that she had asked her dad for an expensive gift for the holidays one year. She knew that the family couldn't afford it, but she couldn't help herself. This wasn't just any gift that Sally had her eye on. It was a sewing machine, a nice nod to Sally's days as a designer. Sally's namesake and great aunt, Sally Spectra (the late, great Darlene Conley), on The Bold and the Beautiful ran a fashion house. Sally likely had dreams of joining the family business, and a sewing machine would have gotten her started.
Nothing is going to top the sad story of Victor Newman being left at an orphanage on Christmas Eve, but Sally's sewing machine-less holiday runs a close second. There are some familiar actors who we think would be well cast as Sally's dad.
William deVry or Michael Easton

Both deVry and Easton are known for their work on General Hospital. The former played Julian Jerome, father to Sam (Kelly Monaco) and Lucas (Van Hansis). Julian had challenging relationships with his children, so he'd be great at playing a similar dynamic with Sally.
Easton already knows how to play dad to a daughter on daytime, too. His character, Dr. Hamilton Finn on GH, was father to Violet (Jophielle Love). Sally's a smidge older than Violet, but soap fans are great at suspending belief when it comes to TV parents being not that much older than their children.
Might Wally Kurth or Austin Peck come to The Young and the Restless?

Kurth already has two jobs in daytime. He's Ned on GH, and he plays Justin on Days of our Lives, too. Adding a third soap role might be asking a lot, but Kurth's a big fan favorite, who is dad to grown daughter Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) on GH. It would all depend on scheduling, but this isn't an impossibility.
Another candidate could be Austin Peck, best known to soap fans as Austin on DAYS; he also played Brad on As the World Turns, so CBS viewers are already familiar with him. Peck's a big fan favorite (as are the other three actors), and his return to soaps would be met with open arms.
The ball's in Y&R's court. If the show goes ahead with casting Sally's dad, the program could entertain these four and others for the part!
