And the Winner Is

The Young and the Restless' Roger Howarth ultimately took home the gold for playing a new version of an old character. Howarth's version of Matt Clark is currently much different than the Matt we knew before. After hitting his head, he woke up with no memory of the villain he was. Now, he has his memories back and is struggling to be a good person, if that is even possible.

This was Howarth's second Daytime Emmy win, with the first one coming in 1994 for playing Todd Manning on One Life to Live, a role he played on and off for two decades. The actor was visibly moved after accepting his award from co-star Susan Walters (Diane Jenkins).

"I'm really, really happy. I love being an actor," he said during his acceptance. "I want to say thank you to Sally and CBS and to Sony and a cast and a crew that made me feel so welcome...I don't know how to say thank you except to say thank you."

Soap Central congratulates Howarth on his award, as well as all the winners at the Daytime Emmy Awards.
