Victor (Eric Braeden) and Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) have been married many times. Their first union took place in 1984 and was the social event of the year, if not the entire decade! Alas, the couple split up after Nikki had a dalliance with Jack Abbott, and Victor developed feelings for Ashley (Eileen Davidson), Jack's sister.

The straw that broke the camel's back was a tell-all biography of Victor, which was titled Victor Newman: Ruthless. The tome detailed Ashley aborting Victor's baby so that he'd stay with Nikki, who was dying. (She went into remission.) Victor and Nikki divorced despite the fact that they still loved each other very much.

It Might Not Come Again

Victor and Nikki drifted into other relationships and marriages throughout the 1990s. In 1998, Nikki was shot by her unbalanced maid, Sarah (Candace Daly), AKA Veronica Landers, the ex-wife of her husband, Joshua (Heath Kizzier).

Victor rewed Nikki on her "deathbed," but miraculously, she survived. The union was declared invalid as Diane, Victor's wife, whom he quickly divorced so he could marry Nikki, contested her split. It took until 2002 for Victor and Nikki to remarry for real. In time, they drifted apart, divorced, and remarried again.

And I Want to Remember

Victor and Nikki never officially dissolved their union, but it's fair to say that the last several months of their life together have been among the most challenging. Nikki didn't like Victor picking on her pal, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman), so Victor kicked Nikki out of their home! She moved into the Genoa City Athletic Club.

The couple's already fragile relationship became more strained after Victor got the idea to keep villain Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) on the grounds of his estate so that he could employ him against Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn), whom Victor still regards as a threat even though Cane appears to have everything he wants in life, and has no particular beef with Victor.

Nikki was diagnosed with a mass that was impacting her optic nerve, causing her to lose her vision. She underwent surgery. Ironically, she couldn't see with her bandages on, but if she had been able to see, she'd have seen Victor in agony as he worried about his wife's health.

Nikki's eyesight recently returned. She and Victor were able to put the past behind them. And, now, they're set to reaffirm their love!
