The Young and the Restless character Cane Ashby was trying to re-win the heart of his ex-wife, Lily. However, that hasn't come to pass. As a result, Cane was more open to forming an unholy alliance with Phyllis. Now, Cane's portrayer, Billy Flynn, is breaking down the duo's dynamic relationship.
The Young and the Restless, Cane is able

Flynn has told Soap Opera Digest that he loves the way Michelle Stafford, who plays Phyllis, works. He says the two are similar in that they are both spontaneous.
"I don't have any of those moments or beats planned out," Flynn says. "So you just kind of get to go along for the ride." The actor adds that the ride is indeed wild and he loves going on it!
Flynn believes that Cane and Phyllis have similar goals, which bonded the two of them. The actor says that both characters are underdogs. He puts another character in that group -- Jason Thompson's Billy Abbott.
Flynn feels that Cane can be ruthless, a word often used to describe his enemy, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), at times. He also believes that Cane and Phyllis can work together well, even when they may not be on the same page. Cane may have problems with how Phyllis goes about getting what she wants. He describes Phyllis as many have -- a wild card!
And in this corner, on The Young and the Restless

Phyllis had her sights set on Cane long before she knew that he was Cane. She saw a potential business ally in the enigmatic Aristotle Dumas, the alias that Cane used while he amassed a great fortune when he was living in France, and reunited with his late father, Colin (the late Tristan Rogers).
The actor has theorized that if Cane has to, then he may be able to beat Phyllis, which won't be easy, as with Phyllis, the war may never end. Take her crusade against Danny (Michael Damian) and Cricket (Lauralee Bell). Sure, she toasted the happy couple at their wedding reception, but it was clear the fiery redhead still had great animosity towards the bride. Phyllis doesn't like losing!
Flynn doesn't see Cane and Phyllis ending their business arrangement anytime soon. He may feel that it's better to keep your friends close and your potential enemies even closer!
