Sally and Billy's big day is finally upon us on The Young and the Restless. The Great Gatsby-themed gala is getting underway on Friday as friends and family gather to celebrate the union of the red-haired beauty and the Abbott heir!
Marry Me, Billy
If there was ever a groom who tested his bride, it was Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson). Billy has it in his head that running Chancellor Industries will show his mother, Jill (Jess Walton), Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), and all of Genoa City that he is a talented businessman!
Billy has promised Sally time and time again that he would move forward with his life and forget about his war with Victor. The mustached mogul never thought Billy was worthy of his daughter, Victoria (Amelia Heinle). The two men have never gotten along.
"The wedding really is a really beautiful accumulation of all the things that we love about his job and that the audience loves about soaps," Jason Thompson (Billy) previewed to TV Insider. The actor adds that there are some interesting moments, and there will be a massive ripple effect from little things that happen.
Thompson says that those ripple effects could play out for the next few decades. "It's not a one-day event," the performer says.
Baby on Board
Thompson reveals that Billy and Sally will soon be changing diapers, as Sally's baby is on his (or her) way. He says that there will be a lot of tension. "There's something that goes down pretty seriously with Jill, and it throws everything into the blender in that moment. There are a lot of moving parts, and there are a lot of different ways this can play out."
The Bride's Big Day
Courtney Hope, who plays Sally, said that she felt honored as she's playing the bride, and by the show's collaborative effort to create such a spectacular event. "It was so fun working with costume designer, Mandi Line, as well as [hairstylist] Justin Jackson and [makeup artist] Orlando Martin to create Sally's dress and her entire wedding look."

Thompson revealed that he didn't predict that Billy and Sally would end up at the altar. However, once he knew it was coming, he was "super-stoked" about it. "They're genuinely in love with each other, and they really want to make this work, and it's a beautiful thing."
Thompson adds that there are "definite twists and turns and dramatic things" that will happen, but that the episodes are filled with heart and emotion, too!
