Questions, Questions

At Society, a curious Cane approached Devon and asked him if everything was okay with Lily. Devon wasn't going to speak for his sister and told him that he'd have to ask Lily. Cane was surprised at how cordial Devon was being to him. Devon assured Cane that as long as he kept Lily happy, he didn't have a problem with him.

At the Chancellor Park Cafe, Lily was still worried about her test results. Lily was also a bit surprised when Nate told her that Devon thought she should tell Cane what was going on. Stephanie and Devon then arrived separately, but Nate had to go. It was time for him to get his bandages removed so he left Stephanie, Devon, and Lily alone to talk.

Devon and Lily wasted no time finding out if Stephanie and Nate were now an item. Stephanie had to admit that they were and they were thrilled. Stephanie tried to play it up as something casual, but was glad that Lily and Devon were happy about it. She worried about what her son might think.

Confrontation With Nick

A frantic Nikki tracked down Nick to the patio at Crimson Lights and demanded to know why he hadn't been answering his phone or returning her messages. Nikki correctly assumed the worst of her son and that he had done something to Joe. The police had been by earlier looking for answers. Nikki wondered if her son had them.

Nick remained vague and said he did what he had to and the rest was up to the cops. He assured Nikki that he didn't kill him and claimed Joe had run off before Burrow could get there. As Nikki explained to Nick that beating Joe would do nothing because there were always drug and alcohol sources out there, Nick flashed back to leaving Joe in the alley and picking his pockets.

More Worries About Nick

When Mariah arrived to see Sharon, she was amazed at how good the place looked. Sharon had done a great job redecorating. Now that Sharon was an empty nester, she wanted the home to reflect her personality more. Mariah finally changed the subject to Nick. Sharon was worried he would spiral now that Marie had OD'd again.

Mariah reminded Sharon that she couldn't control Nick and worrying about him meant nothing. Mariah wondered if Sharon still loved Nick, but Sharon brushed that thought aside. Oddly enough, Mariah suggested that Sharon could talk to Nikki since they were both so worried about Nick.

Sharon took her daughter's advice and invited Nikki over. Like Mariah, Nikki was impressed with Sharon's new decor. It was so very Sharon. Once they were alone, Nikki got real and told Sharon her fears. (This was the opposite of what Mariah had wanted for her mother.)

Sharon was alarmed when Nikki told her that she feared Nick had attacked the drug dealer. Joe was missing now and Nikki was terrified that Nick was using again.

Phyllis' Proud Moment

When Phyllis spotted Victor sitting at the GCAC, she couldn't wait to tell him that she now owned the place. She was disappointed that Victor didn't have much reaction to that news. Phyllis was happy to tell Victor that she was doing very well, thank you very much, but had to admit that her kids haven't been nice to her lately.

When Cane appeared, Victor took pleasure in taunting Ashby and telling him that he had lost to Phyllis once again. Cane was pleased with his deal. He no longer had to worry about the GCAC and he had more money, so it was a win-win and not a loss at all.

Cane and Phyllis walked off to the bar where they discussed Victor. "Victor not stabbing you in the front means you just have to watch your back," Cane warned. Cane believed that Phyllis was desperate for Victor's approval and warned her to be careful. Phyllis wasn't worried and insisted that she would be just fine.

Trouble, Trouble Everywhere

After his chat with Nikki at Crimson Lights, Nick visited an unconscious Marie in the hospital and told her how sorry he was for everything. Their time together had been brief, but it had meant something to him.

"Those minutes meant everything to me. It's hard to explain that to anyone else or even make it make much sense to myself. They were just so intense and personal. I think about all the mistakes I have made, back to when we first met at the motel," Nick said.

Nick wished he'd never left her alone with her awful husband, but promised that Joe could never sell drugs again. "I should never have left you alone with him. If I had, none of this would have happened," Nick added. He asked why Marie had lied to him about moving back East to be with his family.

When Nick left the hospital and returned to Crimson Lights, he had baggies filled with pills in his pockets.

Meanwhile, on a road to nowhere not far form Genoa City, Matt woke up in his car after hitting his head. He looked around groggily and realized that Patty was nowhere to be found. He finally dragged himself out of the car and looked around, looking a bit wounded and dazed. Did the knock to his noggin do anything for Matt?

Do you think Matt is a changed man or not? Will Nick throw the pills out or use again? Share your thoughts in the comments.
