Y&R Spoilers July 28: The Walls Close in on Nikki as She Struggles With Her Condition

Nikki Newman had hoped that she'd get her eyesight back last week when her bandages were taken off on The Young and the Restless. Alas, her vision did not return. It still may, but for now, spoilers for the Tuesday, July 28, 2026, episode indicate that she's facing challenges as the walls close in on her!

Ironically, Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) is not the only woman who has been married to Victor, who has been blind. Over 30 years ago, Victor met Hope Adams (Signy Coleman), a blind farmwoman. Victor wandered onto her farm after he'd been carjacked. He saved Hope from an unruly intruder and went to work on her farm.

Later, Victor and Hope fell in love. They married. She gave birth to their son, Adam (Mark Grossman). Hope later moved back to her farm after living in Genoa City with Victor. After Adam became an adult, Hope died, but she tried to unite Victor and Adam on her deathbed.

Perhaps Nikki has a newfound appreciation for Hope now. We've seen Nikki be both brave and vulnerable as she grapples with her condition. Nikki was diagnosed with pressure on her optic nerve following months and months of arguing with Victor.

Victor and Nikki have been arguing over two big issues. First, Victor is obsessed with destroying Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman), Nikki's friend and former husband. Victor resents Jack for numerous reasons, including past power plays in the boardroom in which the two men tried to one-up each other.

Nikki also has an issue with Victor employing Matt Clark (Roger Howarth). Matt has more crimes on his rap sheet than Victor and Nikki have had marriages! Victor believes that he needs to keep Matt around to keep an eye on Cane (Billy Flynn). Nikki can't get Victor to come around on either subject! How is she supposed to trust him?

Diehard Victor and Nikki fans are hoping that the two will come through this ordeal as they have so many others. Nikki's been on death's door, and Victor literally willed her back to life after they remarried on what could have been her deathbed.

Victor and Nikki have both been married to other people. Time after time, they find their way back to each other. Will they again, whether or not Nikki regains her sight?
