The Young and the Restless has us on the edge of our seats with the Matt Clark/AI battle storyline. First, Victor was in the driver’s seat, but not anymore. Now, Phyllis and Nick are in power positions. A key player, who is missing in this umbrella storyline, could add a new dimension to this storyline once she’s back from her honeymoon, that is!

Yep, we’re talking about attorney Christine Blair Romalotti Williams Romalotti, played by Lauralee Bell. The seasoned attorney knows all the key players in the AI and Matt Clark storylines.

She’s worked for Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), and, while this particular tidbit of history is hardly ever addressed, Christine was once the stepsibling of Jack (Peter Bergman), Ashley (Eileen Davidson), and Traci (Beth Maitland), courtesy of the brief marriage between John Abbott (Jerry Douglas) and Jessica Blair (Rebecca Street), Christine’s mother, who died.

Chris also knows Michael (Christian LeBlanc), Victor’s on-again/off-again attorney. She didn’t fall into the storyline orbits of either Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) or Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) too often, but she knows who they are. Most of all, Christine has a long history with Phyllis (Michelle Stafford), who, in many ways, is at the AI story's center.

Christine’s presence in this story is needed for many reasons. She's an attorney who has worked in the corporate world. What Cane (Billy Flynn), Phyllis, Victor, and even Jack have done is break the law. It’s corporate espionage and fraud for anyone to use an AI program to take down another company. Phyllis committed theft when she stole the program from Cane. Victor committed fraud when he used the program against Cane’s company, Arabesque. Jack and Kyle (Michael Mealor) could be charged with kidnapping of Matt.

Does Christine have a background in libel cases? If she does, the Abbotts could hire her to go after Newman Media. Even Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan), who runs Newman Media, noted to Adam (Mark Grossman) that there was a key fact left out of their report on Abbott doing damage control. The Abbotts only hid assets because of the threat of Victor unleashing the AI program on the cosmetics company.

Christine is a very level-headed person who has the confidence of nearly everyone involved (especially not Phyllis). Her presence back in Genoa City could force everyone involved to take a good, long, hard look at the criminal charges they could be facing in all this.

Is it worth Victor going to jail just so he can get even with Jack Abbott? That’s the first thing that Chris might want to point out to Victor. Most of all, we'd see lots of Christine and Phyllis scenes, should Chris offer legal expertise to those involved.
