Not that long ago, we wrote that The Young and the Restless character Matt Clark was not unlike Wile E. Coyote, the villain in the Road Runner cartoons, who constantly fails to destroy his prey. Unless Matt succeeded in blowing up four contract characters on Y&R in today's episode, we are going to assume he's met with failure once again. The Young and the Restless, Beep! Beep! View this post on Instagram Instagram PostDespite Sienna's (Tamara Braun) efforts to convince her ex-husband Matt (Roger Howarth) to leave the captive Newmans in peace, Matt insisted on activating the detonation app on his phone, blowing the abandoned gas station to smithereens. One or more of our heroes may have been sent to that great soap in the sky, but we're guessing that, once again, Matt has failed to kill a Newman. Instead, he's just out the cost of the explosives. Matt forced Nick's car off the road at the beginning of the year, hoping to kill Nick, but he survived. In Las Vegas, Matt kidnapped Nick, and then Adam, and then Sharon and Noah. And thus far, all of them have survived. How much money has Matt been spending on explosives and renting cars? Maybe he's been stealing the cars, but explosives have to be expensive.Wile E. Coyote has taken many falls over the years (mostly off cliffs), and Matt came close to taking one himself when he threatened to jump off a cliff in Chancellor Park, framing Nick in the process. Nick double-dared him to do it, but poor Matt chickened out at the last minute. It's one of the few times we felt sorry for Matt as he realized that no one would miss him. The best laid plans of Matt Clark and Wile E. CoyoteMatt detonated the bomb in the gas station, but did anyone on The Young and the Restless perish | Image: CBSLike Wile E. Coyote, Matt doesn't always think his plans out too well. He never should have let Sharon and Nick know he was alive. Once he let Noah into his life, it was only a matter of time. Matt had amassed some money via The Shadow Room. His plan to get revenge on the Newmans by running Noah off the road with his car is about his only success in terms of personal vendettas. Matt's had several Newman hostages and been in complete control of them, but he drops the ball every time and ends up spending what little money he has on ACME explosives. Maybe he doesn't want to kill them? Maybe he just wants to be friends with the Road Runner, er, we mean, Nick! Even now, Matt has his freedom. But is he going to hang onto it? Or will his desire to destroy the Newmans be his downfall once again? Don't miss tomorrow's episode to find out if Nick, Adam, Sharon, and Noah survive the explosion.
