Welcome to The Young and the Restless Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick -- and by that, I mean you're already halfway done -- recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today's episode. Let's get to it:

What happened on The Young and the Restless

The Young and the Restless wasn't kidding around when Sharon (Sharon Case) and Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) were kidnapped last year by unbalanced Martin (Christopher Cousins). The two women nearly lost their lives, but they survived Martin's twisted mind games. As a result, they agreed to put their heated rivalry (mostly over Nick, played by Joshua Morrow) in the past. If you thought the truce wasn't going to last a year, you'd be wrong. In fact, it's been more than a year since the two women were held against their will and learned to depend on one another to survive. The two women's newfound dynamic has been tested many times, but never so much after Phyllis took control of Newman Enterprises. Today, Sharon and Phyllis ran into each other outside the Chancellor Park Cafe, and they began sparring. However, the two women gave each other a chance and opened up to one another. Sharon, a trained therapist, reminded Phyllis why Victor (Eric Braeden) built Newman Enterprises -- it was because of his own childhood trauma. Initially, Phyllis, naturally, kept her walls up, but then she walked around them, confessing to Sharon that she was hurt that the first anniversary of their kidnapping ordeal had passed, but Sharon hadn't reached out. Sharon noted that the day had slipped by her. Phyllis said she'd moved on, but Sharon pointed out that the trauma still affected her, as it must affect Phyllis, but in a different way. Phyllis claimed that she only has herself now. Sharon pointed out that that wasn't true. Sharon told Phyllis that people care about her -- that's why they're unhappy with her actions. Sharon tried her best, but rather than reconnect with her former prisoner, Phyllis resigned herself to the fact that she's just alone now. However, we get the feeling that if anyone is going to reach her, it's going to be, ironically, Sharon!
