Welcome to The Young and the Restless Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick -- and by that, I mean you're already halfway done -- recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today's episode. Let's get to it:
What happened on The Young and the Restless

Veteran fans of The Young and the Restless recall that the year 1994 was a very significant one for the CBS soap opera. A handful of characters and actors were introduced that year that still drive storylines today. The year 1994 was the year that Daytime Emmy-winner Shemar Moore made his debut as Malcolm Winters, the estranged half-brother of Neil Winters (the late, great Kristoff St. John). It's also the year that fiery redhead Phyllis Summers, played by three-time Daytime Emmy-winner Michelle Stafford, made the scene. Initially, the two didn't interact. Malcolm was working as Blade's (Michael Tylo) assistant in the Jabot photo department. Phyllis, meanwhile, was stirring up drama in Danny's (Michael Damian) and Cricket's (Lauralee Bell) lives. Eventually, Phyllis and Malcolm crossed paths, and an instant friendship was formed. The two became good, close friends. Storylines took them in other directions, but the bond between them remained. Y&R gets an "A" in history this week because the show has not only remember but it's also acknowledged the special bond between these two. Their lives have gone off in other directions more than ever, but the minute these two saw each other in the Genoa City Athletic Club, it was as if no time at all had passed. Phyllis has invited Malcolm to visit her at the offices of Summers Conglomerate, and we're hoping that during Malcolm's stint this time around, he'll take her up on her offer. We'd love to see these two reminisce about the olden days when they were both struggling to find their place in the world. There are probably some fun flashbacks that the show could show the duo from their early days together. Malcolm's in town for a heavy story, given his medical condition. But there's no reason why he can't have some fun while he's here. A visit with Phyllis would likely lift his spirits.
