Welcome to The Young and the Restless Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick -- and by that, I mean you're already halfway done -- recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today's episode. Let's get to it:

What happened on The Young and the Restless

The Young and the Restless AI storyline, and all business/power storylines on soaps, for that matter, work best when a light is shone on interpersonal relationships. Viewers need a scorecard to be able to keep up on who owns what because things are changing so much. But what Y&R devotees are more able to easily remember is the dynamics between the characters. That's what Cane (Billy Flynn) was thinking when he summoned Daniel (Michael Graziadei) to his train office to talk about the predicament that he's in. Victor (Eric Braeden) has ordered Cane to get Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) to return Newman Enterprises to him or else Lily (Christel Khalil) may be in danger. Cane didn't play Phyllis right, as he underestimated just how far she was willing to go to get her hands on the brass ring. However, Cane knew exactly what he was doing by reaching out to Daniel. As Phyllis's son, Daniel has an "in" with his mom and might be able to reach her in a way that nobody else can. Cane remembered Daniel's love for Lily from 20 years ago, before she fell in love with Cane. Graziadei brilliantly conveyed that Daniel still cared about Lily and would do anything to keep her safe with just a look on his face. Cane has an ally now, one he desperately needs. The question that remains is whether or not Daniel can talk his mom into doing what he needs her to do.
