Welcome to The Young and the Restless Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick -- and by that, I mean you're already halfway done -- recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today's episode. Let's get to it:

What happened on The Young and the Restless

We haven't held back with our opinion that the success of any soap opera business storyline hinges on the interpersonal relationships among the players involved being highlighted. It's curious on The Young and the Restless that we haven't seen Traci or Ashley approach Victor to try to get him to back off his attacks on Jack and Jabot Cosmetics. However, Y&R is to be applauded today for the dramatic showdown between Nicholas Newman (Joshua Morrow) and his ex-wife, Phyllis (Michelle Stafford), over Phyllis and Cane using the AI program, indirectly, to take over Nick's father's (Victor, Eric Braeden) family company. Nick, still recovering from surgery (the dude should still be in the hospital!), hobbled over to Cane's (Billy Flynn) train for a showdown with his fiery ex-wife. If there's anyone whom Phyllis is vulnerable to in life (outside of her kids), it's her video-game-playing pal, Nick. While Phyllis was surprised to see Nick at Cane's and didn't know he'd been injured, her response to Nick's passion was something she was ready for. Nick blasted his ex, pointing out that their daughter, Summer (Allison Lanier), would be affected by this. Nick also warned Phyllis that he would go scorched earth on Phyllis and Cane. She played the "this is just business" card that Victor always deals when he's playing with people's lives. Kudos to Morrow for going full throttle and to Stafford for having Phyllis respond in kind. Bravo!
