Welcome to The Young and the Restless Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick -- and by that, I mean you're already halfway done -- recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today's episode. Let's get to it:

If memory serves us correctly, we still haven't gotten an answer from The Young and the Restless as to how Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) was able to fake his death decades ago, framing Nick (Joshua Morrow) in the process, and how he became Mitch Bacall. It's made us wonder why "Mitch" couldn't have just been...well, a guy named Mitch Bacall, who wanted revenge against the Newmans because of Noah's (Lucas Adams) affair with Sienna (Tamara Braun)? Well, today's episode answered part of our wondering. There's nothing like an old foe on soaps. Nick has been talking about how Matt was his oldest enemy, and in today's episode, we saw evidence of that. Victor flash-backed to a scene in which the Newman patriarch was teaching his son to box so that he could be prepared to go up against Matt. This was likely after Matt had given Nick a whooping in the Crimson Lights coffee shop. Now, Victor feels that Nick isn't quite up for doing that, given his broken leg. So, he's going to take matters into his own hands -- literally. Y&R has once again effectively used flashbacks to help tell current stories. Showing them in black and white is a very nice touch. The show's greatest strength is its history. Victor recalling Nick's concerns about Matt from years ago have the stage for tomorrow's fight between Victor and Matt Clark. Our DVRs are set!
