Welcome to The Young and the Restless Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick -- and by that, I mean you're already halfway done -- recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today's episode. Let's get to it:
What happened on The Young and the Restless

Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) accused Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) of using boxing terms because they were talking about boxing aficionado Victor on The Young and the Restless, but tennis is the game on our mind. It's not uncommon at all for soaps to have the same characters interact with one another over and over, given the nature of storylines. It can be, well, a bit repetitive. However, Y&R served up a few unlikely pairings that were also organic. Case in point: Phyllis and Chelsea are in the same umbrella storyline that involves the Newmans and Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn). When the two ran into each other at Crimson Lights, the two women naturally sparred. They don't share a lot of one-on-one time, but Stafford and Egan shone as they volleyed the ball back and forth at one another. Phyllis basked in the glow of victory while Chelsea contained her fury that the Newmans, for once, are at a disadvantage. Meanwhile, across town, Sally (Courtney Hope) grabbed the bull by the horns and confronted Cane about his dangling Chancellor in front of Billy (Jason Thompson), which she feels will not end well for her Abbott Communications partner. Just as there was with Stafford and Egan, there was an electricity in the scenes with Hope and Flynn, two characters who don't often play together on screen. This isn't the first time that Y&R has thrown unexpected pairings together as stories unfold. Let's hope this trend continues.
