Welcome to The Young and the Restless Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick -- and by that, I mean you're already halfway done -- recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today's episode. Let's get to it:

The Young and the Restless started a story last year with Mariah (Camryn Grimes) coming back from a business trip and ending her relationship with her wife, Tessa (Cait Fairbanks). It took quite a bit of time for her to finally open up about the horrible event that occurred while she was away. Well, it turned out she had too much to drink, met up with a guy in a bar (played by soap veteran Michael Swan, best known as Duncan on As the World Turns), who had also had too much to drink, and she almost killed him. It was all because she had flashbacks to the horror inflicted upon her by cult leader Ian Ward (Ray Wise). Murder is the one sin that's tough to come back from, as it's final. However, Mariah didn't kill anyone. She made a bad choice, had some bad thoughts, but to use a sports analogy, "no harm, no foul." Now, Mariah's gotten herself into another mess, as Ian (or a figment of Mariah's imagination in the form of Ian) has convinced her to kidnap Dominic (Ethan Ray Clark). Whatever happened to Mariah's mystery man? Why have we never seen him again? What light might he shed on Mariah's actions that fateful night, as he might not have been inebriated as he is? Mariah's encounter with this acquaintance fueled a lot of her decisions over the past year. Perhaps Swan's character coming on could help resolve some of Mariah's tortured tale.
