Welcome to The Young and the Restless Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick -- and by that, I mean you're already halfway done -- recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today's episode. Let's get to it:

Portraits are nothing new on The Young and the Restless. Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) had one hanging in his office for years. There's a portrait of Katherine Chancellor (the late, great Jeanne Cooper) hanging in the Chancellor mansion living room. We've been waiting for a few weeks now for Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) have one put up in her office, Victor's old office, at Summers Conglomerate. That day come today when Victoria (Amelia Heinle) showed up at her father's former office to deliver a letter from Summer to her mother, Phyllis. Phyllis couldn't wait to rub in Victoria's face that she now had a portrait hanging in the place of honor in her office. Phyllis also noted that Victoria once had her own portrait during the brief time that she was running Newman Enterprises. The smirk on Phyllis's face quickly faded after Vicki handed her former sister-in-law a letter from Summer. Phyllis could tell from Vicki's gleeful nature that the note didn't contain good news. Alone, Phyllis read the note in which Summer read her mother for filfth, telling her she was wrong to take Victor's company the way she did. Summer said that she didn't want to have anything to do with her mom. Later, Phyllis met with her other child, Daniel (Michael Graziadei), but that meeting went south fast. Daniel, like his sister, is not fond of his mom's actions. He walked out on her. Phyllis may have her fancy portrait and control of Newman Enterprises, but she doesn't have much else. In this era of video-conferencing, texting, and posting, it was a throwback to classic soap operas to have Phyllis read a letter from Summer. Her daughter's words cut Phyllis like a knife, as did Daniel walking away from her. Phyllis is feeling more alone than ever and that makes her very, very dangerous!
