The Young and the Restless' storyline involving Malcolm and Stephanie has given us a welcome departure from the usual storylines of corporate theft and Victor's ongoing feud with Jack. Stephanie is a strong-willed woman who speaks her mind. Here are four reasons why we need her in Genoa City permanently.
Genoa City needs a doctor on The Young and the Restless

We rarely see Dr. Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) anymore on Y&R (though she's going to pop up in a classic episode airing Monday, May 25). Nate (Sean Dominic) no longer practices medicine since he injured his hand and can't perform surgeries anymore. Genoa City is badly in need of a doctor, and Dr. Stephanie Simmons (Vivica A. Fox) fits the bill very nicely. She could become GC's full-time resident doctor, and perhaps we can get even more scenes like the one we had between her and Nate.
She is friendly with Nate's mother, Olivia (Tonya Lee Williams), who was a major part of the Y&R canvas for years and is a fellow doctor. She and Olivia were both involved with Malcolm (Shemar Moore) at different times. Stephanie's scenes with Nate were heart-warming, as the two have a connection via Olivia. If Stephanie moves to GC and works at Genoa City Memorial Hospital, perhaps she could confer with Nate periodically about the various medical cases that arise, even though he doesn't operate anymore. It would be nice to see an ongoing friendship develop between them.
Holden would have a parent in GC

Stephanie clearly loves her son, Holden (Nathan Owens). In the first year or so that he was in GC, he had no family ties, and we had no idea who his parents were. Now that we know that Stephanie is his mother, wouldn't it be nice if he continued to have her maternal support in GC?
Many of the Newman and Abbott children have their parents (or at least one parent) in GC to confide in. Then, we have other characters who have no parents on the canvas, such as Sally (Courtney Hope) and Audra (Zuleyka Silver). Holden still needs to work through his frustrated feelings toward Stephanie for keeping the secret that Malcolm is his father. He has a lot to unpack emotionally, so it would be convenient if Stephanie is in GC so they can talk everything out in person.
Holden also seems like he could use some direction in choosing the right career path. Stephanie has a long-standing career in the medical industry, so she could give him some good advice if he feels that he needs it. Will he continue to work for Cane (Billy Flynn)? We don't know yet, since Victor (Eric Braeden) destroyed Cane's company, Arabesque, with the AI program. Holden may end up working at Winters, Inc., if Devon (Bryton James) and Nate eventually come to trust him.
Stephanie could be a gal pal for some of the GC ladies

We need more female friendships on Y&R. We have Sally and Audra's close friendship, as well as Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) and Lauren's (Tracey Bregman) longtime friendship. If Stephanie moves to GC, perhaps she could develop friendships with some of the ladies in town.
She met Sharon (Sharon Case) at Crimson Lights when she first told Holden that Malcolm is his biological father. Since Sharon is a licensed therapist, she and Stephanie share an interest in healing people. Sharon hasn't had a very close friendship with anyone since Drucilla Winters (Victoria Rowell) fell off a cliff and allegedly died in 2007. Sharon and Phyllis have buried the hatchet and are working on building a friendship, but Sharon could use another friend in GC. Perhaps Stephanie could fill that void?
Stephanie, Holden, and Lily have a great family vibe

Stephanie, Lily, and Holden had a playful moment together in New York when the ladies wanted to know what was going on between him and Claire (Hayley Erin). It was all in good fun as they teased him about the nature of the relationship. Holden assured them he and Claire were just friends, but he seemed to enjoy the good-natured ribbing from his mother and half-sister. It felt like a genuine family moment, even though Stephanie and Lily are not biologically related.
When Claire appeared at the hotel room door, Lily smiled and said, "We were just talking about you!" We rarely get to see this fun side of Lily. She's usually a serious person. Perhaps the champagne that Malcolm gifted them was what loosened her up?
We hope Stephanie sticks around after Malcolm's recovery from the surgery. Holden could use his mother's guidance and emotional support. And maybe Lily could use another mother figure when Traci (Beth Maitland) isn't in town? What do you think, Y&R fans? Would you like to see Stephanie make GC her home?
