The Young and the Restless: Four things we're not happy about

While The Young and the Restless writers have recently given us some storylines we're happy about, there are several that make us feel frustrated or annoyed. Here are four things we're not happy about.

Many longtime fans of The Young and the Restless, and especially fans of Nick (Joshua Morrow), hate to see him in this current drug addiction storyline. While it's a great opportunity for Morrow to flex his acting muscles, we already saw Jack (Peter Bergman) struggle with an addiction to pain-killers. He even risked his life when he took pills to save Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) from her alcoholic binges only a couple of years ago.

When Nick dozed off while he was talking to Sharon (Sharon Case) and Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) on the phone, it was infuriating that neither of them had the good sense to say to each other, "Nick needs help ASAP!" Sharon should hop on the next plane to Las Vegas to check on him. Adam (Mark Grossman) is busy trying to earn Riza's (Tina Casciani) trust. Mariah (Camryn Grimes) just checked into a mental health facility, so she doesn't need Sharon right now. Sharon could ask Esther (Kate Linder) to oversee Crimson Lights while she's in Vegas.

This drug addiction storyline needs to come to a head soon. Nick is in bad shape. Unfortunately, Matt has him right where he wants him. He's going to laugh in Nick's face when he sees that his longtime enemy has succumbed to drugs! How will Nick dig himself out of the hole that the drugs have put him in?

The Abbotts didn't have the whiskey analyzed for drugs

When Billy (Jason Thompson), Kyle (Michael Mealor), and Diane (Susan Walters) rescued Jack (Peter Bergman) on the yacht, it would have been great if one of them had thought to take the whiskey bottle with them. They could have brought it to a lab to have the contents tested for drugs. That way, there would be proof that Jack had been drugged when he had sex with Patty (Stacy Haiduk). Diane is having a hard time believing him, and that disbelief is preventing her from reconciling with him.

Maybe we should blame Billy and Kyle more than Diane? She was too upset and emotional to think about having the whiskey tested after seeing Jack in bed with Patty. Billy and Kyle should have put their heads together and thought of it, especially knowing how diabolical Victor is. It's still unclear, though, whether Victor had the liquor drugged or whether Patty drugged it herself.

Some of us weren't sure whether Y&R's Patty only had that brief stint on the yacht, or whether she was coming back to Genoa City. Unfortunately for Diane, she's making GC her home again, and she's continuing to pursue Jack. Fortunately, for us, Haiduk is back on our screens! The actress is always a great addition to Genoa City!

Maybe he needs to get a restraining order to keep Patty away? What if she shows up again at the Abbott mansion, and Diane happens to stop by to talk to Jack? If she sees Patty there, then she's going to turn around and walk back out the door!

It would be great if we could get an upcoming scene where Patty visits Victor, and we find out from their conversation that Victor did plan for Jack to be drugged, and Patty put the drug in the drink. What would be even better is if Jack or Diane visited Victor and overheard the conversation!

Victoria has already kept a secret from Nate

Nate (Sean Dominic) and Victoria (Amelia Heinle) had a nice friendship going for a few months, and it looked like it was leading to a romance. But then, she started that potential romance with the secret about Victor kidnapping Lily (Christel Khalil), even though she knew how worried Nate was about Lily's safety.

It's never a good idea to begin a romance with secrets and lies. Do Victoria and Nate stand a chance together now, considering how loyal she is to her father (despite his devious schemes)? Nate has already been down this road when he was involved with Victoria the first time. He always has to walk on eggshells around Victor, just like every other man who has ever dated Victoria. Would Nate be wise to keep his distance this time and not get involved with her again? If she's already keeping secrets from him for Victor, chances are that she will do it again. We know she's a daddy's girl!
