The Young and the Restless: Four things that are trying our patience

On The Young and the Restless, there are several elements to the show that are either confusing, frustrating, or we feel like we just need a break from them. They all try our patience in some way. Here are four things on Y&R that are currently trying our patience:

Cane's indecisiveness on The Young and the Restless

Ever since the summer of 2025, The Young and the Restless' Cane (Billy Flynn) hasn't been able to decide whether he wants to be a ruthless businessman or a nice guy. Y&R fans are getting fed up with the fact that he's been going back and forth for months, depending on whether or not Lily (Christel Khalil) is in Genoa City.

It feels like we've arrived at a point where he finally needs to pick a lane and stick to it. Does he consider himself to be the cutthroat Aristotle Dumas, or the man Lily once loved and has two children with? He knows he can't be both.

It's time Mariah gets REAL help for her problems

Mariah's (Camryn Grimes) dragged out storyline has been frustrating The Young and the Restless fans for months and months. Even though she was in the Boston clinic for a considerable length of time, whatever treatment she was receiving there didn't do her any good.

But now that she kidnapped Dominic (Ethan Ray Clark), she definitely needs intensive treatment. Let's hope she gets it, because after all, she kidnapped a child. She shouldn't just go back to Genoa City and remain in Sharon's (Sharon Case) care. She needs to be in a facility, and one where the staff will give her the kind of hardcore treatment that she should have been getting for the past year.

The AI program needs to be destroyed, once and for all

It almost feels like we need some kind of mystery involving the AI program. Who will be the one to destroy it? With all the characters who are involved in this storyline, there would be a large group of suspects.

But the bottom line is, the AI program needs to go. The storyline has been dragged out for way too long. We're all getting impatient, waiting for someone to get their hands on it and destroy it. Note to The Young and the Restless writers: please get rid of the darn thing and move on to something new.

Can Victor please take a short break from Genoa City?

Many Y&R fans are frustrated that Victor (Eric Braeden) is always inserted into every storyline on the show (or just about). We know he's had a heck of a time these past several months, between everything Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) has done to the Newmans and Cane's theft of Newman Enterprises.

So, wouldn't it be nice if Victor and Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) took a break from it all and flew off to an exotic island somewhere? Or maybe if they traveled to Europe? Y&R fans could use a break from Victor's never-ending assaults on Jabot, his dismissive treatment of Michael (Christian LeBlanc), and his constant usage of the term "Billy Boy Abbott" (Jason Thompson). It wouldn't have to be a long break, maybe just a few weeks. That way, perhaps we could see some of the supporting Y&R characters take center stage for a bit while Victor and Nikki soak up the sun in some faraway land.
