The Young and the Restless Mystery: Has Danny Romalotti gone missing?

Last Friday's sneak peeks for The Young and the Restless showed a scene of Daniel asking Christine, "Have you heard from my dad?" We assume that Danny Romalotti, Genoa City's resident rock star, is on tour. But since Christine is his wife, we also assume that she checks in with him regularly. Does Daniel have cause to worry? Could Danny be missing?

Even Christine (Lauralee Bell) looks concerned when Daniel (Michael Graziadei) asks her whether she heard from Danny (Michael Damian). She's been busy representing Victor (Eric Braeden) in the case against Phyllis, trying to persuade Red to return Newman Enterprises to him. So she's been preoccupied these past couple of weeks with a very important case.

But don't Christine and Danny call each other when he's traveling and performing? Maybe she's going to tell Daniel that she called Danny several times and left messages for him, but he hasn't answered her yet -- so she's concerned, too.

Unlike Christine, Daniel doesn't have a whole lot going on in his life right now since he doesn't have a job, so there isn't much that's occupying his time. We can see why he's killing time by sitting at the bar and wondering where his father is. It's time the Y&R writers finally give him a career path to follow.

Do Matt and Patty have something to do with Danny's disappearance?

When amnesiac Matt (Roger Howarth) met Patty (Stacy Haiduk) at Crimson Lights, and she told him about her high school days in Genoa City, she mentioned that she had a teenage crush on Danny. Was this just a coincidence that they were talking about Danny, or was it a sign that Matt and Patty are going to do something sinister to him?

We sure don't need any more kidnappings on Y&R, if that's where the writers are going with this storyline. It seems like half the characters on the canvas have been kidnapped in the past couple of years.

But it just seemed odd (and perhaps a foreshadowing) that Patty took that trip down memory lane all the way back to her high school days, and she mentioned Danny. And now, a mere week or so later, Danny is missing. Now that Matt is starting to get flashes of his memory back, he will soon remember that he is the evil Matt Clark. Once that happens, who knows what kind of mayhem he and Patty might cause together? Poor Danny might become their next target!

That doesn't make sense, though, since Matt has no connection to Danny and wasn't targeting him before he lost his memory. Matt is only seeking revenge against the Newmans, and they don't have any connection to Danny either.

Could Phyllis be the one who saves Danny?

Phyllis sure couldn't wait to interrupt Matt and Patty's chat at Crimson Lights. She can't stand Patty, and she knows about the bad blood between her ex-husband, Nick (Joshua Morrow), and Matt. If Danny is missing, and if Matt and Patty are responsible, could Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) be the one who saves him somehow? Even though he's married to Christine now, Phyllis will always care about him because of their history together and also because he is Daniel's father.

Daniel has been shutting Phyllis out of his life ever since she stole NE. But if Matt and Patty did something to Danny, and if Phyllis is the one who saves him, will Daniel finally welcome his mother back into his life?

So far, Danny hasn't been involved in either Matt's storyline or Patty's. Matt is obsessed with the Newmans, and Patty is obsessed with Jack. But perhaps the Y&R writers are putting Danny in their orbits for some reason? Could this be a new storyline we're entering that will involve Danny being missing and all of his loved ones searching for him? Anything is possible in soap land. Stay tuned, Y&R fans!
