On the Monday, April 13th episode of The Young and the Restless, Diane opened up to Michael, Phyllis realized the cost of her success, and Adam panicked when Nick disappeared.

What happened on The Young and the Restless

At Crimson Lights, Daniel marveled at the luxurious itinerary for Danny’s Barcelona gig. Tessa hesitantly revealed that she was having second thoughts about leaving town because she wanted to be available when Mariah was ready to see her. Daniel wasn’t surprised, given how his and Tessa’s relationship had changed. She conceded that it was part of the reason she was backing out, and he thanked her for being honest. Phyllis entered via the patio as Tessa threw her arms around Daniel.

After Tessa left, Phyllis hoped Daniel and Tessa weren’t still romantically involved, given that Mariah was getting professional help and would likely reunite with her wife and daughter. Daniel retorted that it was none of her business, since she’d lost her right to be concerned when she’d chosen power over her children. Phyllis wondered if he’d be angry with her forever. Daniel wanted nothing to do with Phyllis for as long as she held onto what she’d stolen at the expense of her own children.

Phyllis announced that she was there to give Daniel a gift to help him become financially stable. She offered to create a division at Summers Conglomerate for him to do something creative that he could be passionate about. Daniel accused Phyllis of trying to buy his forgiveness, and he huffed that he wanted nothing to do with her or her stolen business. Lauren walked in as Daniel told Phyllis that they had nothing to talk about until she gave it back to its rightful owners.

After Daniel departed, Phyllis griped to Lauren about how stubborn and spiteful her son was, and she lamented that Summer wouldn’t even answer her calls. Phyllis realized that her kids might never forgive her unless she gave Newman to Victor. Lauren questioned whether what Phyllis had won was worth what she’d lost. Lauren contemplated whether Phyllis would end up wishing she could take it all back, only to find out it was too late.

At Society, Michael approached Diane’s table, but she curtly informed him that she was having a working lunch and didn’t have time to chat. He asked if she’d really moved out, since Victor had hinted that Jack had betrayed her. She testily asked if Victor had also taken credit for being the architect of that betrayal.

Diane and Michael share a long history

Diane recounted the events leading up to finding Jack in bed with Patty on the yacht. Michael was shocked that Patty wasn’t under lock and key, and Diane explained that Victor had planted Patty there to spike Jack’s drink with a libido-enhancing drug. Michael asked if she was sure Victor was responsible. Diane suggested he ask Nikki, since Victor had shown no remorse when he’d admitted to his wife that he’d laid the trap for Jack.

Diane dared Michael to recognize that his boss and so-called father figure was a bad person who wanted to destroy anyone who crossed him. Diane wailed that she was humiliated and heartbroken, and she wondered whether that was enough to make Michael break ties with a man who’d broken many of the people he cared about. Michael took Diane’s hands in his and acknowledged how much Diane and Jack loved one another and how hard they’d worked to rebuild their relationship.

Diane grumbled that it hadn’t been enough in the face of temptation, and the image of Jack and Patty in bed together would be forever seared into her brain. Michael pointed out that he knew first-hand how difficult it was to forgive a spouse for infidelity, but wherever there was great love was always a way back. Diane tearfully conceded that she’d love nothing more than to find a way to forgive Jack, but she was still too hurt and angry to consider it. Michael offered to try to get through to Victor, but he doubted Victor would hear him.

Kyle versus Victor at the GCAC

At the Athletic Club, Kyle confronted Victor, who cheerfully recommended the porterhouse. Kyle barked that he’d lost his appetite when he’d seen Victor, adding that Victor had messed with the Abbotts for the last time. Victor contended that Jack had shown his true colors on the boat, and Jack’s insatiable appetite for debauchery was a character fault that Victor couldn’t be held responsible for.

Kyle promised that Victor wouldn’t win. Victor urged Kyle to accept that his father wasn’t the paragon of virtue Kyle wanted him to be. Kyle spat that he knew a good man when he saw one – and when he didn’t. Kyle stalked off, passing by Nikki on his way out. Nikki crossed over to Victor and inquired whether he could accept that he’d gone too far. He replied that he accepted nothing.

Victor bragged that while some people had been shedding tears over pitiful Jack, he’d been securing the return of Chancellor. Nikki condemned him for releasing a madwoman into their midst to do it. Victor questioned when she’d become squeamish about doing business. Nikki countered that she hadn’t crossed any lines, and she’d run Chancellor in a way that would honor Katherine. Victor bellowed that he’d fought hard to get it back, but instead of being grateful, Nikki had stabbed him in the back by supporting Jack.

Nikki reiterated that Jack was her friend and always would be, and she didn’t understand why Victor still felt the need to attack after all the damage he’d already done. Victor countered that when he was attacked, he attacked back twice as hard. Nikki argued that Jack hadn’t had anything to do with the attack Phyllis, Cane, and Billy had launched. Victor retorted that she’d been so blinded by choosing Jack that she couldn’t see straight, and she’d have to live with her choice.

Kyle returned home and informed Traci that he’d just unloaded on Victor. Kyle lamented that his parents weren’t in a good place, but Traci assured him Jack wasn’t giving up on their marriage. Kyle worried that no matter what his dad did, his mom wouldn’t be able to get past what had happened. Traci worried that the longer it took, the more the hurt would fester. Traci thought the threat Patty posed could be much worse.

In Las Vegas, Adam tried opening the door to the hotel room where Riza had arranged for him to meet her partner, but it was locked. He heard grunting on the call that was still connected to Nick’s phone, and he anxiously inquired whether his brother was okay. Meanwhile, in a storage room, a bound Nick was sprawled out next to his ringing phone with a bag over his head.

Adam pounded on the door and yelled for Riza. He tried calling Nick again as Riza approached, and she mentioned that her partner had been waiting for him when she’d left. As Riza searched for her room key, she explained that Ronnie had wanted to meet with Adam alone first, so she’d killed time in the casino to give them space.

Riza found the key, and Adam growled that he’d waited long enough to meet her partner. Riza and Adam entered the room, and she pondered why Ronnie had left without calling. Adam attempted to reach Nick again but got voicemail. Adam demanded that she call Ronnie and ask him where Adam’s brother was.

Adam returned to his own room and yelled for Nick. Riza followed and pushed to know what had him riled up. She swore that she had no idea what had happened to his brother or Ronnie. Adam asked if the name Matt Clark meant anything to her, but she looked confused. He mentioned Mitch Bacall, and she clearly recognized that name.

Riza shared that Mitch was her partner, but he’d changed his name to Ronnie when he’d relocated to Vegas. Adam informed her that both were aliases, and her partner was really Matt, who’d sought revenge on Nick and Sharon for years. Adam revealed that he and Nick were there to stop Matt from terrorizing their family any further. Riza realized that Adam’s attempt to reconnect with her as Spider had only been a cover, and she smacked him across the face. Adam demanded to know where Nick was, but Riza maintained that she didn’t know. Adam hissed that she’d better help him find his brother.

Nick called out for Matt. Matt pulled the bag off Nick’s head, and Nick squinted to see his captor. Matt invited Nick to take a long, hard look at the face of the man he’d thought he could outsmart. Matt admitted that the decoy had almost worked, but Nick had done something stupid by buying drugs from guys who worked for him. Matt recounted that his men had reported back to him when they’d gotten a new customer, and it hadn’t helped that Nick was sharing a room with “Spider,” who he guessed was Adam.

Matt declined to answer Riza’s call, and he suggested that Nick take a subterfuge class from Victor. Matt chided Nick for always wanting everyone to think he was a good guy doing battle against the dark side when Nick had taken a turn down addict alley. Matt found it ironic that Nick had thought he was going to trap Matt, while Matt had been using Adam to lure Nick out of hiding. Nick asked if Matt was planning to kill him.

Matt claimed that he wanted to help Nick. Matt guessed that Nick was jonesing for a pill, and he promised to make sure Nick never ran out of drugs. Matt intended to feed Nick’s addiction until Nick didn’t even know his own name. Matt recalled when he’d tried to frame Nick for selling drugs years earlier, and Nick had been sanctimonious and smug when he’d said no one would believe someone like him would touch the stuff.

Matt envisioned watching Nick hit the basement below rock bottom, and when Nick was about to overdose for the last time, Matt would go after Sienna, Noah, and Sharon. Nick growled at Matt not to lay a hand on them. Matt taunted that by then, Nick would be so wasted that he wouldn’t be able to do a “damn thing” about it.
