How to Save a Life

Nick’s loved ones worried when he didn’t check himself back into rehab. Nick holed up in a seedy motel, where he experienced a nightmare in which Matt taunted him about prioritizing being high over everyone and everything else. In the dream, Matt led Nick through what his life would be like if he continued to use drugs, including Nick getting Sharon addicted, Connor overdosing after finding Nick’s stash, and Victor blaming Nikki for Nick’s downward spiral.
Nick awakened from his nightmare when the woman in the room next door, Marie, banged on his door after hearing him cry out in his sleep. Marie guessed that Nick was a fellow user and asked that he share his drugs with her, but he insisted that he was going back to rehab and flushed his remaining pills. Later, Nick succumbed to his cravings, and he and Marie got high together, ultimately having sex.
Nick discovered that Marie wasn’t breathing, and he performed CPR to revive her. Over Marie’s protests, Nick called the paramedics and broke down in tears after they took her away. Nick called Sharon to take him back to rehab. As Nick spoke during a group therapy session, Marie arrived at the facility and credited Nick with saving her life.
Career Changes

Devon announced that he was leaving Winters to open a liberal arts college named after Neil, hoping to spend more time with his family and use his inherited wealth for a noble purpose. Abby supported Devon‘s plans but was concerned about how the change would affect their family.
Nate admitted to Lily that he’d also been considering leaving Winters to return to medicine, but he decided to stay so she wouldn’t be left to run the company alone. After hearing that a specialist might be able to repair the damage to Nate’s tendons, Lily encouraged Nate to return to his career as a surgeon.
Newman News

Victoria broke down while opening up to Kyle about the pressure of having to be strong during her family’s constant crises, and they nearly kissed before Jack interrupted.
Victor and Nikki returned early from their trip when they learned Nick had suffered a relapse. Victor, Nikki, Sharon, and Victoria grappled with how they could best support Nick.
Christian moved in with Victoria while Nick was in rehab. Adam attempted to ease Christian’s fears when the boy learned about Nick’s addiction. Adam denied Chelsea’s suspicion that he regretted letting Nick serve as a father to Christian. Nikki worried about Adam’s growing bond with Christian.
Claiming Chancellor

Lily tried to convince Cane to fire Billy, but Cane defended continuing to work with him. Meanwhile, Billy uncovered documents proving that John Abbott had bailed out Chancellor Industries when it had almost gone bankrupt decades earlier, with a clause stating ownership of the company would revert to the Abbotts if the debt wasn’t repaid within 20 years. Jack and Kyle tried to dissuade Billy from taking legal action, but Billy was determined to claim what he felt was his. Billy gloated to Lily and Cane that he could prove Chancellor belonged to him.
