The Young and the Restless Recap August 14: Billy Tells Cane and Lily That He Owns Chancellor Industries

Chelsea surprised Adam with a baseball at the GCAC. It was the same ball that Connor had used to hit a game-winning run. Connor hit the ball dead center field. A scout witnessed it. Chelsea imagined her and Adam's son being recruited by a D1 school!

Adam shared that he spent time with Christian, who was not doing great. In fact, he was in bad shape. Adam shared with Chelsea that Christian was grappling with his dad's condition. Adam said that he wanted to hold his biological son and tell him that Nick would beat this.

Adam recalled seeing Nick struggle in Las Vegas not to use. He wondered what would happen to Christian if Nick didn't make it. Chelsea wondered if Adam seeing Christian brought up some old unresolved feelings. Adam said, of course, he'd look after Christian at a time like this. Adam said that maybe he should have been more active in Christian's life. Chelsea wondered if Adam thought he'd made a mistake letting Nick raise Christian.

Adam said that he learned from raising Connor that giving Christian to Nick was the right move. Adam said that Christian gave him ideas about social media platforms. He said he saw a lot of himself in Christian. Adam wondered if Chelsea thought he was rooting for Nick to fail so that he could step in as Christian's dad? Chelsea said that wasn't the case. She just wanted to make sure that Adam was okay. Adam noted that Nick was Christian's dad.

Victor's Rule

Victor approached Adam and Chelsea. He updated them on Nick getting some help. Victor said that everyone needed to help Nick. Victor said that Nick's privacy needs to be respected.

Chelsea said that they could protect Nick with their media outlet; Adam noted that they'd balance any bad reports with a compassionate story about Nick. Victor stated that Nick will beat this, and everyone will help Nick return home to his son.

Nikki's White Lie

Vicki and Claire arrived at the ranch with good news for Nikki. Nick had reached out to Victoria and said he wanted to get well. Nikki shared that she'd gotten a similar text, but that she had lied to her son.

Nikki said that she had fibbed to Nick that she and Victor were going back to Venice so that he wouldn't feel bad about them coming home. Claire and Vicki didn't think that was so bad. Nikki disagreed. Nikki felt that she passed her addiction on to Nicholas.

Claire recounted how she had set the whole family up for her Aunt Jordan, and she thinks about that every day. Claire recalled forcing liquor down Nikki's throat. She wondered how that was different from what Matt did to Nick, getting him hooked on pills. Vicki reminded her daughter that she saved everyone when she had the choice. Nikki said that Claire has been a shining light. Vicki suggested they all stop blaming themselves for Nicholas' problems. Vicki added that they all wanted to help Nicholas, but that this was his fight.

Claire got a text from Holden, asking her to meet him for lunch. Claire kissed her mother and grandmother goodbye and then left. Nikki told Vicki that she heard what she said.

Family Matters

Vicki told Nikki that the Newman cousins -- Johnny, Katie, Connor, and Christian -- have all been getting along. Nikki pointed out that Vicki has opened up her home. Vicki said it was hard for Christian to see his father fighting his addiction.

Nikki was pleased that Adam had been better, but she had doubts about him taking a role in Christian's life. Nikki pointed out that Adam once tried to get custody of Christian; Vicki noted that that was a long time ago. She also pointed out that it has worked out with Chelsea being Johnny's biological mother. Nikki noted that Chelsea has softened Adam, but "Adam is still Adam."

Vicki suggested to Nikki that they make a deal. If she sensed that Adam was trying to be Christian's father, she'd call on just the right person. "Your father," Nikki noted. Victor's wife said that if Victoria could give Adam the benefit of the doubt, then she could, too. Nikki noted that there were times Adam hadn't changed.

Breakfasts of Champions

Cane complimented Lilyi on her cooking while they ate breakfast at Society. Cane said that he didn't want to talk about Billy. Meanwhile, at Chancellor Park Cafe, Billy recapped that he had unearthed a document at Chancellor Industries that revealed that Abbotts own the late Katherine's company due to an unpaid loan that John Abbott gave to Phillip Chancellor II when the company was in trouble decades ago.

Jack received an email from Billy containing copies of the documents that Billy claimed to have. Jack said they seemed authentic. Kyle wondered if this was all AI. Jack couldn't believe that Katherine didn't find out about this. Wouldn't she have paid John back? Billy didn't know what happened, but all he knew was that Katherine didn't pay John back. Jack believed Katherine simply did not know. He asked Billy what he was going to do -- take the company back from Lily? Billy said he'd be taking it back from Cane, too.

Back at Society, Cane teased that Billy was stirring things up. He shared that there's info in the company's archives that Jill didn't want him to know about. Cane recalled that someone bailed out Chancellor Industries, but Jill didn't want Billy to know that. Lily wondered why it wasn't enough that Billy was back at the company.

Cane said Billy wanted to be the top dog. Lily said that'd happen over her dead body! Cane said that Billy wants power and respect. Lily added that Billy wants Cane's job, too. Cane noted that Billy has an agonizing need to prove himself to Jill. Lily said that it was sad that they couldn't find peace. Cane thought that Jill and Billy weren't working things out, but that he was still angry. Lily advised firing Billy immediately.

Cane talked Lily out of doing that. She thought Cane was a nice person. He turned to someone at a different table and asked if he'd heard that. Lily said that Cane was being nice to someone who hadn't been nice to him. Cane raised his glass to Billy. "Sure," Lily chuckled. Billy observed from a short distance.

Meanwhile, Jack pointed out that if Victor owned the company, Billy's news would be a different story. Billy said that he would take what was legally his. Jack pointed out that if Billy's news was true, then Chancellor was theirs. Billy got snippy and said that he was going to run the company and not take some "b.s." job from Cane. He was going to take the company and run it and enjoy it.

Billy wouldn't let go of the idea of the Abbotts taking control of Chancellor Industries. Jack noted that it'd be an expensive all-out war. Billy said that he was prepared for that.

Kyle asked Billy what Sally thought of all this. Billy asked what that meant as Sally was in Los Angeles with her sister. Billy accused Kyle of trying to stir something up. He didn't need a lecture on priorities from Kyle. Taking Kyle's side, Jack reminded Billy that Sally almost left him over his obsession with Chancellor. Billy left in a fit of rage. Jack said that his half-brother can't help himself.

Kyle admitted to Jack that the documents look real. Jack said lawyers will make millions as the truth is uncovered. Kyle recounted the deal that John and Phillip made. Kyle said that it's not an issue whether or not John called in the loan wasn't the issue. Kyle wondered if Chancellor Industries truly belongs to them.

Jack wished John were still there and would tell them what to do. He thought that John would ask them to examine the fallout. Jack noted that if the documents were true, then they'd all own the company, so Ashley and Traci needed to be consulted so they could all decide on fighting the battle or not.

Billy's Power Play

Billy told Cane and Lily that he'd concluded his search at Chancellor and he'd found what he'd been looking for. Cane wondered what Billy had uncovered. Billy said that he found something worthwhile, the keys to the kingdom, in fact.

Billy said that he liked and respected Lily. He apologized to both of them that Chancellor Industries was his and that he could prove it!
