The Young and the Restless Recap August 20: Nina Reveals She's Met Someone Who's Helping Her Deal with Chance's Death

Traci, happy enough to have a night off from writing, met Cricket at The Shadow Room. Cricket told Traci that Danny had a job for them – try out samplings from the drink menu and critique them! Traci was thrilled that Nina surprised her! The women checked out the drink offerings on the menu.

Nina ordered “Three Strong Blondes,” and Traci quipped to the silver-haired bartender, “and a ‘Silver Fox’ to serve them.” Nina loved her drink; she and Traci were surprised that Danny gave up the road to manage and co-own The Shadow Room. Cricket didn’t question Danny’s devotion to her, but she wondered how he could put on hold a big part of his music life by no longer touring.

Nina recalled the Danny Romalotti concerts. Traci said that Danny worked social media messages into his concerts. Cricket recalled the “don’t drink and drive” message. She added that kids are lucky to have ride-share options today. Nina pointed out that the bartender was eyeing Traci, so she needed to order a drink whose description was to share with the bartender one’s deepest desires.

Traci returned to the table and shared with Cricket and Nina that she ordered drinks from the bartender, and also that she wanted to fall in love -- with a drink. Nina revealed that she met someone in a recovery group in Los Angeles, who is helping her deal with her grief over Chance. The women spied a photo of Danny on the wall in which he had a mullet. The bartender brought the drinks over and flashed a smile. Cricket made a toast!

Cricket asked Traci if she was ready for her next chapter. Nina wanted Martin to rot in prison after Traci brought his name up. She recounted having to talk to him recently to get some information. Traci commented that Martin was sick and weak. She added that what happened wasn’t her fault. Traci said that she was open to whatever the future holds because she deserved love. Cricket finished her drink as Traci suggested another round.

Danny (not seen on camera) delivered the next round of drinks to Traci, Cricket, and Nina. Traci noted the serious storms they’ve weathered. Nina said some nearly broke them. Cricket said that they were still there and they had each other.

Cricket said that she was calling cars so they could get rides home. Traci said she liked the drink called “One Night Stand” the best as the night wound down. Traci added that the bartender gave her his phone number. She suggested that they find a way to get together more often. Nina agreed!

Meanwhile, Devon arrived at Society. Lily and Cane filled him in on Billy’s latest scheme to take over Chancellor using the document. Devon and Cane sparred. Devon doubted that giving Malcolm a few stem cells hadn't made him a good person. Lily intervened, asking Devon to put his feelings aside. Devon wasn’t sure he wanted to help them. Lily pointed out that the late Katherine’s company was on the line. Cane said that Billy just used working at Chancellor Industries as a way to get in. Cane admitted that he made a mistake bringing Billy into the company. He wondered if Devon had ever made a mistake.

Lily pointed out that Katherine, John, and Phillip are all gone. Devon offered that if Kay knew about this, then she would honor the agreement. He added that’s what Lily and Cane should do, too. Lily wanted to know if Devon thought that they should just give up.

Devon said that he wouldn’t fight this, but that he couldn’t speak for Katherine. Lily said that Devon was speaking for Katherine about five minutes ago. Lily said that Devon didn’t like that Cane was in charge of Chancellor Industries. Devon said that Lily had control of Winters Inc. She didn’t need Chancellor Industries as Devon was stepping away and Nate was going back to medicine. Cane asked if Devon would change his mind if he weren’t in the picture. Lily said that she didn’t plan on losing.

Lily asked for Devon’s support. She said that Devon wants Chancellor Industries in anyone’s hands but Cane’s. She said that she was disappointed in him. Devon said that he was sorry that she felt that way. Devon left. Lily said that she had an idea after saying that they knew the amount that John lent Phillip for the company. She called Jack and asked him to meet with her.

When Sally Met Billy’s Latest Scheme

Sally told Billy and Audra that she couldn’t wait to find out what the toast that they were making was all about. Billy got up and greeted Sally with a kiss. Sally informed Billy that Coco’s test results were great, so she left L.A.

Audra offered to leave so that Billy could tell Sally his big news. Sally wondered how much Audra knew if she knew to leave. Sally told Billy to stop dodging her questions by asking about the baby and her trip. Billy said he had great news.

Billy said that he wasn’t sure who he shared his tale with; Sally pointed out that he told Audra. Billy shared the story about the unpaid loan. He theorized that Jill never told him about the loan to keep Billy at bay. Billy said that he was taking over Chancellor Industries.

Billy said that he wanted to get Chancellor Industries away from Cane after all he’d done to him. Sally pointed out that Cane had just given him a job. Billy said that that was a bone. Sally feared that there was a long, ugly fight ahead of them despite the facts. Sally shared that her heart sank when she heard Billy talking about Chancellor. Billy said that he had no idea what he was going to find, but it felt like divine intervention or karma. He wanted to share it with Sally. She chuckled that it took this to bring Billy and Audra together for a drink. Billy added that they have a mutual love for Sally. Billy said that he had the truth on his side and that’s all he needed.

Setting up Chelsea and Billy

At Crimson Lights, Chelsea told Adam that she killed a story on Nick’s trip to rehab, despite it being a “compassionate take.” Chelsea said that she regretted killing the story. Adam wasn’t sure why she felt that way. Chelsea said that that’s not how journalism is supposed to go. Adam did say that the man he had been talking to as Chelsea entered fed them a story that they could use, as it was about their old pal, Billy Abbott!

Chelsea refused to do a hatchet job on Billy to please Victor. Adam brought Chelsea up to speed on the loan that John Abbott gave Phillip Chancellor II, and now, the Abbotts own the company. Adam said that lawyers on both sides were hard at work. Chelsea mused that Billy would give this story to Spectra Charles. Adam countered that they could beat them to it.

Chelsea said that Sally won’t leave Billy because they’re having a baby. She noted that Cane and Lily wouldn’t give up Chance without a fight. Chelsea advised Adam to report on a story, not twist a knife in Billy’s back. Adam said that Billy might be the comeback kid. Chelsea doubted Adam would cover it that way. Adam concurred that Victor wouldn’t allow that.

Adam said even if Billy found success, he’d still crash and burn -- but that would be a story for another day. Chelsea admitted that a story on Billy and Chancellor Industries would make a splash. Adam suggested that Chelsea chat with Billy to get his side.

Adam said he cared about the story. Chelsea wondered if Adam would put a negative spin on the tale of not. Adam assured her that he would not do that to Billy, but that he couldn’t speak for his father. Chelsea said that she was putting him on notice. If he betrayed her, there’d be hell to pay. Adam suggestively asked what kind of punishment he’d be in for. Cheslea smiled and walked away.

At the counter that holds the sugar and the stirrers, Chelsea and Adam played coyly with one another about his punishment. Adam said that he had it from a source that Chelsea could deny herself Adam’s company. Adam said that they needed to find out if Billy’s story was accurate. Adam and Chelsea kissed. Chelsea told Adam, “Don’t make me regret this,” as she said she’d take one for the team by talking to Billy.
