The Young and the Restless Recap August 31: Audra Learns About Victoria’s Big Vibrante Plans

On the Monday, August 31, 2026 episode of The Young and the Restless, Nate prepared for his surgery, Victor approved of Victoria’s strategy, and Matt made a surprising visit.

Pre-Surgical Distractions

Stephanie stopped by Nate’s penthouse as he was making sure things were in order before his surgery the next day. Stephanie gifted Nate with a pair of shoes to commemorate him taking the first step toward resuming his life as a surgeon. They bantered about the correct phrasing in an old Michael Jordan and Spike Lee shoe commercial. Nate invited Stephanie to join him for a distraction to try to keep his mind off the surgery.

Nate and Stephanie ran into Devon at the Chancellor Park Café. Nate admitted he was nervous about the surgery, but Stephanie was sure he’d be fine. Devon noted that Stephanie had been a miracle worker since returning to town, but she figured helping people was just what she did. Nate fetched some coffee drinks, noting that Stephanie’s drink of choice had also been his go-to when he’d been chief of surgery.

Nate mentioned that he’d hired a car to drive him to the hospital. Stephanie insisted on giving Nate a ride to and from the procedure – unless he was tired of her company. Nate assured her that it wasn’t possible. Devon noticed the easy rapport between them and noted that the two hadn’t known one another at all before she’d returned to Genoa City.

Stephanie recalled that she’d worked with Olivia years earlier, and Nate reminded himself to call his mom once the surgery was over. Stephanie had no doubt he’d soon be on her surgical staff. Devon expected Nate to get offers from other hospitals, but Nate was committed to working with Stephanie if everything went well. Nate suggested that Stephanie join him for a walk to work off his nervous energy.

At the new Newman ranch, Victor updated Victoria about his visit with Nick. Victoria bemoaned that she’d been hoping for a call or text message from her brother with an invitation to see him. Nikki urged Victoria to be patient and headed out to pick up ice cream for an outing with the grandchildren.

Victoria was shocked when Victor revealed that he knew she was using Audra’s marketing strategy to relaunch Vibrante. Victoria argued that playing up the legendary rivalry between Newman and Jabot would create buzz, but Victor countered that it would also boost Jabot. Victoria contended that a dinosaur like Jabot would be playing catchup the moment the fake feud went live, and she questioned why Victor wouldn’t want to take down Jack’s company when she won. Victor conceded that he liked the idea, but he advised Victoria to keep her distance from the Abbotts because they weren’t above playing dirty.

Later, Victor voiced concern to Nikki about the connection Nick seemed to have with the woman he’d saved. Victor worried it could be a problem in Nick’s battle. Nikki thought it would be better if Nick had support from someone further along in their recovery. Victor surmised she was talking about Jack and claimed he only cared about Nick regaining his life and happiness.

At Crimson Lights, Audra ordered a drink at the counter, but Esther was clearly distracted by something on her phone. Audra was pleased to see that Esther was using the Spectra-Charles app. Audra cursed when she read a new text message. Kyle overheard and inquired whether it was another disaster. Audra huffed that Victoria had stolen something that should have been hers.

Audra divulged that Victoria wanted to buy her patents to relaunch Vibrante. Kyle taunted that it had to hurt that the company Audra had put her time and energy into was in the hands of a smarter person who was capable of making it a success. Audra wondered when he’d become a fan of any of the Newmans.

Audra asserted that she’d moved on to bigger and better things and vowed to never get sucked in by the Newmans’ games again. Kyle pointed out that she was ready to throw down every time she crossed paths with someone who wronged her. Audra cooed that he could hate her all he wanted, but he’d never been able to take his eyes off her. Victoria entered the patio, and Audra clucked that she and Kyle had just been talking about how Victoria had been a very naughty girl. Victoria squirmed.

Kyle clarified that Audra had heard about Victoria relaunching Vibrante. Victoria pointed out that Audra had no claim on the company, but Audra crowed that she’d protected her assets by putting the patents in her name. Audra expected Victoria’s offer to buy them to reflect enthusiasm. After Audra walked off, Kyle awkwardly wished Victoria a good morning.

Victoria was prepared for Audra to put up a fight for the patents, but she intended to get them. Victoria shared that she’d been forced to tell Victor about her plan to relaunch Vibrante, but her father had been supportive when she’d promised that Vibrante would annihilate Jabot. Kyle wished her luck.

Futile Warnings

Nick was surprised when Phyllis showed up to see him in rehab. He snapped that he didn’t want any visitors and ordered her to go. She embraced him instead. Phyllis explained that she’d felt bad about the last harsh conversation they’d had, and she hoped they could talk. Phyllis got choked up as she offered to bring Nick books or food. Nick barked that he didn’t need those things and surmised she was there about Matt.

Phyllis admitted that she believed the Newmans were behind Matt’s latest disappearance. Nick spat that he didn’t know who she was anymore. Phyllis swore that she was just trying to clean up her life, and Matt was part of it. Phyllis defended that Matt wasn’t the same man he’d once been. Nick cautioned that he’d seen glimpses of Matt’s old self, and he feared that Phyllis would eventually see what Matt was capable of.

Nick and Phyllis argued about her fascination with Matt. Nick realized that he might be reacting to Matt as a trigger, and he had to accept reality instead of spiraling. Phyllis implored Nick to let go of his past opinion of someone, and Nick wondered if she was talking about Matt or herself. Marie entered and thanked Nick for talking her off the ledge.

Marie rambled about sugar and missing puzzle pieces being ledges in rehab. She apologized for barging in and quickly exited. Phyllis observed that it looked like Marie wanted to bust out of there. Nick insisted that both he and Marie wanted to get clean with no judgment, just support.

Phyllis compared it to how she wanted to help Matt make his life better. Nick couldn’t shake the feeling that Phyllis and Matt were cooking something up against the Newmans. Nick begged Phyllis to listen to his warnings about Matt before she got hurt.
