At the Chancellor mansion, Devon updated Nate about Mariah’s abduction of Dominic. Devon mentioned that Abby was trying to get some rest, but he couldn’t imagine sleeping until his son was home. Nate recalled that Mariah had made peace with giving Dominic to Devon and Abby, and he tried to wrap his head around what had changed.

Devon relayed Tessa’s concerns about Mariah dealing with emotional and psychological issues after Ian’s return. Nate theorized that taking the boy had been an emotional reconnection for Mariah. Devon held onto the fact that Dominic had looked fine in the motel security footage, since he didn’t know what he would do if Mariah hurt his son.

At Crimson Lights, Nick filled Sharon in on his family’s plans to get their company back. Nick snarled that Phyllis hadn’t blinked an eye when she’d destroyed her daughter’s legacy. Sharon thought some of what she and Nick had said had gotten through to Phyllis, but Nick believed Phyllis had proven her ambition was stronger than her conscience. Sharon anticipated that he would still run to Phyllis’ rescue if she was heading for a fall.

“Not this time,” Nick pledged, vowing to “fight like hell” even if Phyllis was collateral damage. Nick continued that he’d love nothing more than to beat the greed out of Cane until he gave back everything he’d taken. Sharon cautioned that Nick had been injured and was still in pain. Nick contended that he didn’t care as long as he got the company back for his family.

Sharon was surprised to get a call from Devon, who urgently requested to speak with her in person. They made plans to meet at her home. After they hung up, Devon expected Sharon to be devastated to hear that her daughter had kidnapped Dominic. Nate imagined Sharon would have insight into what was going on in Mariah’s head. Devon vowed to do whatever it took to get his son back.

At the park café, Sienna greeted Noah with kisses and apologized for being late. She explained that she’d been watching kids sledding on the hill. Noah confirmed that Christian had been pressing Noah to take him sledding, and he might go later because the Newmans didn’t take no for an answer. Sienna pointed out that the Newmans wanted Noah to stay in town. Noah intended to follow her to the ends of the earth – unless she’d changed her mind. Sienna doubted that it was a good idea.

Sienna admitted that she hadn’t realized how dark her life had become until she’d met Noah, and she felt safe with him. He suggested they pack their bags, but she suspected that his family wanted to spend time with him after he’d almost died. She was skeptical about him suddenly wanting to go back to L.A. after being intent on staying in Genoa City. Noah asserted that he went for it when he knew what he wanted, and he compared the situation to when he’d moved to London to open his club. Sienna guessed he hadn’t yet told Allie about their relationship.

Noah reasoned that it wasn’t news to tell someone over the phone. Sienna questioned whether he was sure things between him and Allie were over, but he insisted that he was in love with Sienna and wanted a life with her – wherever it was. Sienna suspected his family wouldn’t be as enthusiastic about it. Noah figured that she made him happy, and that was all his family had ever wanted for him.

Noah looked forward to running The Shadow Room with Sienna in L.A. Sienna balked, noting that the place reeked of Matt. Noah envisioned making it their own and creating new memories together. He reiterated that he wanted nothing more than a life with her, and all she had to do was say yes. He reminded her that the Newmans didn’t take no for an answer.

At the cottage, Sharon and Nick walked in as Noah thanked Victor over the phone for letting him use the company jet. Noah announced that he and Sienna were heading back to L.A. to run The Shadow Room together. Devon arrived, and Noah introduced him to Sienna. Devon said they’d have to catch up another time, since he needed to talk to Sharon about his son.

Noah and Sienna headed upstairs to pack. Devon asked Sharon and Nick when they’d last seen or spoken with Mariah. Sharon recalled that she’d still been in L.A. the last time they’d talked, but Mariah had recently checked out of a Boston clinic and headed south to Florida. Devon showed them an image from the motel security footage earlier that day and informed them that Mariah had kidnapped his son.

Devon recapped the events leading up to Dominic’s disappearance, and he shared that neither the police nor his private security team had any leads about Mariah’s whereabouts. Nick prepared to call Abby to offer his support, and Sharon offered to contact Mariah’s doctors. After Devon headed out, a distraught Sharon contemplated why Marah would kidnap Dominic.

Sharon wailed that Mariah had been lost and in pain, and she blamed herself for not staying in better touch. Nick insisted that whatever had happened wasn’t Sharon’s fault, and he encouraged her to deal with the present and not look back. Sharon wanted to believe that Mariah would never hurt Dominic. Nick pointed out that Dominic loved and trusted Mariah, so the tot would go anywhere with her. Sharon pondered where that might be.

Abby forlornly wandered around the Chancellor living room and wondered where Dominic was. She called Victor and requested his help. After hanging up, she picked up a stuffed dog from the floor and remembered when Chance had gotten it for Dominic. Abby recalled that Dominic had been proud that his papa was a strong, brave policeman, and she wished Chance were there to use his detective skills to find their son. She sensed Chance was watching over Dominic and letting the boy know how much they loved him.

Devon returned home and found Abby curled up on the couch with the stuffed animal. Abby felt like finding the toy was a message from Chance, who was keeping Dominic safe. Devon urged her to remember that no matter what Mariah was going through, she was their friend and a good person who loved Dominic. Abby couldn’t stop thinking that Mariah had struggled with wanting to keep Dominic – and that Mariah had been raised by Ian.

As Mariah drove with Dominic asleep in the back seat, Ian appeared next to her. Ian gushed about what a blessing an innocent child was, ripe for molding. He said Dominic was still at an age when Mariah’s loving motherly presence could eclipse any memories of his life before her. Ian hoped all the miles she was putting between them and Genoa City meant she was leaving her fear and guilt behind. Mariah groused that she’d thought Ian had abandoned her, but he swore he’d never do that.

Mariah blasted Ian for pushing her to take Dominic, even though she’d struggled with causing Abby and Devon pain. Ian rationalized that she’d done it to heal her own grief, and it was the only way she could fully find peace. Mariah wanted to believe it, but she thought peace seemed far away. She cried that she’d taken the boy from the only life he’d ever known, and she didn’t know what to do or where she was going. Mariah lectured that Ian should have been there to guide her.

Ian recalled that when Mariah had been Dominic’s age, he’d been the mentor to her that she’d become for Dominic. Mariah demanded to know why Ian had abandoned her. Ian explained that she wasn’t a child anymore, and he’d needed to see if she had the strength and determination to follow through on her own without his presence. He crowed that she’d passed the test with flying colors, and he was proud of her.

Ian admired Mariah’s ability to use the silent treatment effectively, but he warned that no good would result from suppressing what was troubling her. He pleaded with her to trust him and talk to him. Mariah sensed Abby’s pain, but Ian figured that pain was necessary for growth. Ian implored her not to have doubts because it was time to stay the course.

Ian reminded Mariah that she’d sacrificed everything to give Abby a child. Ian continued that it was Mariah’s turn to claim the son that was rightfully hers and let go of the guilt. He firmly stated that she knew what needed to be done, and she just had to keep her eye on the prize. “Papa!” Dominic suddenly cried, and Ian disappeared.

Dominic shared that he’d had a dream that wasn’t scary, but it had made him sad. He revealed that his papa had been in heaven, and Chance had hugged him and said he loved him. Dominic said he missed him. Mariah tried to cheer the boy up with the news that it wouldn’t be much longer before they got to their destination. Dominic chirped that maybe his mom would be there waiting for him. Mariah promised he’d see his mom soon.

Dominic asked if Mariah liked to sing, since sometimes his mommy sang to him when they went on trips. Mariah recognized that he probably missed his mommy a lot, but she was also “kind of like” his mommy. Mariah recalled that she’d sung to Dominic often when he’d been in her tummy, and they’d gotten to know one another very well before he’d even been born. Dominic declared that she’d known him the longest of anyone in the world.

Mariah fondly recounted that Dominic had made her laugh by doing somersaults and flips, and she’d loved him very much. She told him that she’d given him the nickname “Bowie” because she’d known he was a rock star. Mariah remembered that she’d sung a song to him that Tessa loved, and he responded that Tessa was nice. Mariah agreed, and Dominic requested that she sing the song. Mariah began to hum as she flashed back to being held captive while she was pregnant.

Mariah stressed that although Dominic didn’t remember, they’d become close when he was in her tummy. She mused that sometimes it almost felt like he was her son, too.
