At a rooftop café in Los Angeles, Claire marveled over the warm February weather. Holden recalled that they’d had a great time the last time they’d visited L.A., but it had felt like they’d hit a speed bump when they’d gone back to Genoa City. Claire chalked it up to the distractions back home, like her family company’s woes – and Audra. Claire confessed that Audra was a big reason she was there.

Holden pointed out that he’d invited Claire there to spend time together, and he’d already told her everything he knew. He reasoned that it would be a waste of time to keep obsessing over someone she didn’t like – unless she had doubts about him. Claire clarified that she’d meant it was nice to get away and not risk running into Audra.

Claire recalled that she’d been dealing with Kyle and the situation with Noah during her last L.A. trip, and she wanted a lighter, cleaner experience that time – with Holden. Holden said he’d love nothing more, but he had to take a meeting first. Claire groused that everything was a big secret with him, noting that he changed the subject every time she asked about his job. Holden hated that Claire didn’t trust him, and he explained that he was there on a personal matter for Cane. Claire bristled.

Holden admitted that he hadn’t told Claire about it before because he’d thought she wouldn’t join him if she’d known his purpose for being there. Holden revealed that he was overseeing the search for Lily and the twins, who had gone missing. Claire realized that Cane thought Victor had taken them, but she defended that her grandfather would never do something like that. Holden reasoned that he was there to find out who had done it, and he excused himself to meet with a private investigator. Claire answered a call from an art gallery and claimed that she’d misplaced the name of the owner. She asked how she could reach him.

Victor arrived home after seeing Abby and Devon and told Nikki there had been no news about Dominic. Nikki complained that it didn’t feel right to keep Lily away from Devon at a time of crisis, and she wondered if Lily even knew what was going on. Victor insisted that Lily would be all right, but Nikki questioned how much longer they could keep up the ruse. Victor anticipated that Cane would be willing to make a deal by the end of the day.

Nikki contemplated why Cane hadn’t already given in. Victor shared that Cane had requested proof that Lily and the twins were okay, and Nikki wanted to see it, too. Victor was offended that she doubted him. Nikki protested that he was always making decisions on his own that affected the rest of their family, and she voiced concern that he’d pushed Cane too far.

Nikki surmised Victor was angry with her, but she wanted to be part of his struggle to get his company back. Victor barked that the whole family could be a part of it by giving him the benefit of the doubt, and he scoffed at the idea of hurting Neil’s family. Nikki clarified that she didn’t think Victor would hurt them, but she didn’t understand why he wouldn’t tell her what he’d offered Lily in exchange for her cooperation. Victor received a text message with the proof he’d been expecting.

Victor invited Nikki to see the evidence on his phone. Nikki was glad to see Lily and the twins together and seemingly unharmed. Nikki apologized for doubting him, but Victor didn’t understand her reservations. Victor sent the evidence to Cane.

At Newman Enterprises, Phyllis flashed back to bragging to Victor that she’d won, and he’d told her to enjoy the moment because it would be a pleasure to watch her fall. As she spruced up the office, Billy walked in and asked to see Cane. Phyllis replied that he’d be there soon. Billy started to head out, but Phyllis stressed that Cane was making a mistake by giving Chancellor to Billy.

Phyllis expected that when Billy screwed up like he always did, she’d be there to tell Cane she’d told him so. Billy retorted that she shouldn’t kid herself because she had no influence and was only a sidekick. Cane entered and announced that there had been a change of plans. Billy worried that it had something to do with Chancellor.

Cane pressed to know about Jill, who hadn’t returned his calls. Billy reported that he had spoken with Snapper, who’d indicated that her condition hadn’t changed. Phyllis implied that Billy should be by Jill’s side, but Billy opted to stay there to make sure his mother’s legacy remained intact. Billy mentioned that his lawyer had sent over a contract for Cane to sign, and he inquired whether Cane was pulling out of the deal. Phyllis hoped so.

Cane assured Billy that they still had an agreement in principle, and he promised that Billy would get everything he wanted. Billy told Cane to sign the deal to convince him, and he accused Cane of getting cold feet. Phyllis urged Billy to go back to being a business tycoon with his girlfriend because no one wanted him there. Billy shot back that Phyllis thought she had power, but she was just riding Cane’s coattails and had earned nothing. Billy demanded answers from Cane.

Cane ordered both Phyllis and Billy out because he needed time alone. Cane answered a call from Holden, who reported that the investigator had tracked Lily and the twins to a hotel in downtown L.A., but they’d been gone by the time he’d gotten there. Holden sent Cane some blurry security footage of his family being led away from the hotel by a person in a baseball cap, who had put them into a black SUV with no plates. Holden warned that Lily and the twins had looked scared.

Cane received Victor’s text message, and he testily told Billy and Phyllis that he had to tend to something that wasn’t about business. Billy agreed to go, but he hissed that he’d make Cane pay if he was stringing Billy along. After Billy left, Cane informed Phyllis that he had proof Victor’s threat was real. Phyllis looked at the footage and opined that nothing about the images made her think Cane’s family was in danger.

Cane insisted that it was proof of an abduction and that Victor wouldn’t make a play if he didn’t have control. Phyllis maintained that Victor wouldn’t do anything to Lily and her children, but Cane refused to take a chance because Victor would do whatever it took to get back his family’s legacy. Phyllis implored Cane to call Victor’s bluff, but she angrily realized he’d already decided to cave in to Victor’s demands and throw it all away.

Claire and Holden met again on the rooftop. He informed her that it appeared Lily and the twins had been taken, but it was unclear by whom. Claire claimed that she’d unpacked and run errands in his absence. Holden recalled that they’d done touristy things the last time, but he wanted to do something new on that trip that was just about them. Taking his hands in hers, Claire gushed that it sounded wonderful.

At Society, Victoria informed Nick and Adam that there had been no updates about Mariah and Dominic. Nick expressed relief that Detective Burrow was helping with the case. Nick reported that he was still in pain, but he’d just gotten a refill of his medication. Victoria filled Nick in on how Victor had claimed that Lily had willingly participated in her own kidnapping. Nick guessed Victoria didn’t believe it.

Victoria doubted that Lily would bail the Newmans out after Victor had screwed her over with Chancellor, and she grumbled that Victor had refused to tell them the whole story. Victoria worried that it would destroy their father if he lost the company for good, and she refused to sit by and wait for Victor’s plan to work. She believed their best method of attack was to go after Phyllis and Cane legally, and she predicted that Phyllis would roll over on Cane if they could nail her for stealing the AI program. Victoria insisted that the idea stay between the three of them.

Nick objected to taking action behind Victor’s back. Adam suspected Victor had offered Lily something in exchange for going along with his plan, and Chancellor was the only thing Lily wanted from Victor. Nick argued that Victor would never do that to Nikki. Adam thought giving up Chancellor would be a small sacrifice to save the world Victor had built for his kids. Victoria proclaimed that it was their fight, too, and it was time they got into it. The siblings all received text messages from Victor, who urgently summoned them to the ranch.

Billy returned home, ranting to himself that Cane wouldn’t screw him over that time. The doorbell rang as he poured a drink, and he yelled that no one was home. Phyllis stormed in and revealed that Cane was going off the rails and pulling the plug on everything. She requested Billy’s help because she had a way for him to hold onto Chancellor, but they had to act fast.

Victoria, Nick, and Adam arrived at the ranch, and Victor informed them that Cane seemed willing to make a deal. Victor instructed his children to be prepared to get things back up to speed when the company reverted back to them. Victoria insisted that they have a backup plan. Adam pressed to know what Victor had offered Lily to get her to forget how much she hated him.

Victor stressed that the point was that Lily had been willing to accept his plan, and his instincts told him the Newmans were about to reclaim what was rightfully theirs. Adam again pressed to know if Victor’s deal with Lily would affect them, and Victor replied that he would let them know when he was ready to discuss it. Cane suddenly burst in. “You son of a bitch!” Cane growled.

Victor surmised Cane had realized Victor didn’t make empty threats. “You win,” Cane conceded, adding that Victor could have his company back once he provided proof that Lily and the twins had safely been released.
