Cane texted Phyllis that their victory over the Newmans was official. Sadly for Phyllis, Nick walked into the GCAC before she got a moment to celebrate. Phyllis remarked that Nick looked better than the last time she saw him and wondered if he checked out of the hospital too early.

Nick accused Phyllis of not caring about his condition. Phyllis ignoring his pleas to call off the attack on Newman left him with no choice but to believe she didn't care. Any goodwill that remained between the former couple had evaporated when the AI program infected his family company.

Phyllis recalled the warning Nick gave her about grinding her into dust, and she figured it was the pain meds. She asked to table the discussion to avoid things turning ugly. Phyllis refused to acknowledge Nick's insults, but he hurled them anyway, demanding she leave and finish her eggs.

Nick wanted Phyllis to feel bad about her actions, but she didn't feel any remorse. Phyllis believed that this was karmic justice for the way he had treated her throughout the years. This was completely justified in her eyes.

Phyllis encouraged Nick to get some rest so he could find a way to repair his life, the same way that she had done so many times. Sharon showed up to provide Nick with some much-needed backup. Nick was certain that Summer wouldn't forgive Phyllis that easily.

Sharon asked the two to keep their voices down since they were in a public place. At first, Phyllis thought that Sharon was a neutral party, but she swiftly came to Nick's defense. She didn't think Phyllis had changed after their near-death experience the prior year. Sharon went so far as to compare what Phyllis was doing to what Martin did to them.

The comparison was a bit far-fetched, but Sharon thought that Phyllis' actions ruined their friendship. Whatever bond she had come to cherish was wiped away, and their connection was severed. Phyllis reminded Sharon how much she was there for her during Noah's crisis. She needed her to see that Victor brought his downfall upon himself.

After the fight, Phyllis tried to call Summer, but Summer didn't pick up. However, afterward, Summer sent a text to her mother that simply read, "Don't call me again."

Billy dropped by Cane's train to visit him and asked if there was an issue. Newman Enterprises was officially in his and Phyllis' name, and Billy would be given a contract for his new CEO role.

Billy's reaction was less than enthusiastic, which concerned Cane. He assumed that Sally had gotten to Billy since she refused to forgive him for obsessing over Chancellor. Billy's somber attitude told a different story altogether. There was far more at play than a simple disagreement with his crimson-haired girlfriend.

Billy told Cane that it wasn't Sally. Jill was at the top of Billy's mind. He realized that Cane had no idea about her worsening condition, so he filled him in on her health relapse. Cane asked if Jill had been hospitalized, and although she hadn't, she was in dire condition. Jill was weak, and Billy called Snapper to get the full story; her heart had deteriorated.

Jill was unaware of Cane's theft of Newman and of Billy's potential Chancellor involvement, which made Billy extremely worried. There was no getting around how difficult this would be for Jill to uncover. Billy wished, on some level, that none of it had happened to begin with. If they hadn't taken over Newman, there would be nothing to hide.

Despite Billy's concern for Jill, he was still all in regarding the takeover of Chancellor Industries. The only thing he wanted was to delay publicly announcing his new role. Billy thought he was done with Jill, but talking to her on the phone revived his compassion for her. Cane insisted that Billy hop on a plane to visit her, since the plan to "acquire" Newman had been successfully executed. However, it wasn’t the right time for that.

Back at the Chancellor mansion, Devon walked in as Abby continued to cry over their missing son. They didn't sleep due to Dominic's disappearance. Devon was surprised that Abby had made waffles, since that's what Dominic had requested the previous day. He wouldn't be there to eat them, however. Instead, for Abby and Devon, their son was with an unidentified entity in unknown conditions.

Abby wanted to stay positive, but it was getting more difficult by the hour. Devon promised her that Dominic would return home. Abby wondered how long it would take for security footage to be combed over, but Devon assured her they'd figure it out.

The footage showcased a figure walking away with Dominic, and he didn't look scared. Since Dominic hadn't displayed any fear toward his kidnapper, Abby questioned if someone they knew personally committed the heinous act.

Devon got Abby to leave the house for a bit, so they stopped at Crimson Lights. A change of scenery was needed for both worried parents. They ran into Tessa and Daniel, the latter of whom asked where Dominic was. Abby's reaction made Daniel think he did something wrong, but he didn't know.

Abby told the pair that someone had taken their son, and they didn't know where he was. Abby and Devon were stuck in limbo waiting for the police, so they showed Daniel and Tessa a photo of the scarf that the abductor had left behind. Tessa's reaction stunned everyone, as it was immediately apparent that she recognized it from somewhere.

Tessa needed a moment to compose herself. She confessed that she had the scarf commissioned for Mariah two years ago, and it was one-of-a-kind. Nobody else could have possibly had the same clothing item. Tessa was quickly putting the pieces together in her head. It was written all over her face.

Devon asked if Mariah could have been the one who took off with Dominic, and at first, Abby felt relieved that it was Mariah. Devon wasn't as calm, and he questioned why Mariah would do that without telling anyone.

Tessa explained everything about Mariah's mental health crisis, and her wife hadn't returned home. There was no way to explain how the scarf went from Boston to Genoa City without Mariah being responsible for the kidnapping. There was no getting around Mariah as the number one suspect.

Back in the motel room, Mariah asked Dominic if he was ready for their next adventure. They needed to check out of the room so they could make it to their next destination. This was just a game to Dominic, but to Mariah, it was necessary to evade capture by law enforcement.

Mariah convinced Dominic to go into the bathroom so she could think about her next steps. Usually, Ian would appear to her while she was alone, but this time he was nowhere to be found. Mariah called out to Ian, hoping he'd soon emerge, as she had fully run out of ideas.

Ian never showed, and Mariah bundled Dominic up and urged him to avoid being seen by anyone on the way to the car. However, on the way out, he dropped a mitten. Later, Dominic spotted a police car on the road, but they went around Mariah. She caught a lucky break for the time being. Unfortunately, back at the motel, Devon and Abby reviewed security footage that definitively revealed Mariah as Dominic's kidnapper.
