Happy Family

At the GCAC, Lily happily reported to Nate that Mattie and Charlie are doing great. She added that Cane was putting a great team together at Chancellor Industries. Lily pointed out to Nate that he was doing something totally different (medicine) when he came to work at Winters, so Holden should be okay at Chancellor Industries.

Nate's not sure Devon will handle Holden coming to work at Chancellor. Lily said that it'll take Devon time to get up to speed. She wanted to tell Devon face-to-face that Holden was coming to work for Chancellor. Lily noted that Devon hasn't been the same since Dominic was kidnapped. Maybe it's something beyond his son being taken by Mariah that's bugging him, Lily wondered.

Nate said that Devon has always been protective of his family and Katherine's legacy. Nate agreed that Devon has a sense of regret. He suggested that Lily let it go. Lily said that she couldn't. Nate meant that he would handle Devon. "Let me work on it," Nate said.

Cane tried to pick up Nate's tab, but Nate said that wasn't necessary. Nate was cool with Cane, and then he left. Cane didn't blame Lily's family for not cutting him any slack. Cane hoped that Lily's family backlash didn't make her want to back away from him.

Cane and Lily bantered. She called him a buzz kill. Cane said that Devon will not be okay with Lily's plans for Cane. Lily said that what is bugging Devon may have nothing to do with Cane.

Lily said that Devon knows there's nothing he can say or do that would make Lily not trust her instincts. Holden approached Cane and Lily at the bar. He asked his ex if they could have dinner later. She agreed.

Holden said that he was off the mark about telling Cane to stay away from Lily, as she smiles around him more than she does anyone. Holden added that he was having second thoughts about Chancellor.

Holden shared that he ran into Devon when he was on his way to the airport. Holden shared that Devon doesn't want him or Can near his grandmother's company. Cane said that he'd be letting Lily down if he didn't take the job at Chancellor Industries. Holden said he was in. The two men shook on it.

Sienna was shocked when Matt Clark showed up at The Shadow Room. Matt said that the last thing he wanted was for anyone to fear him. Sienna quipped that maybe Matt shouldn't have tried to kill people. Matt quipped that he and the security team outside were going out for ice cream later.

Sienna noted that it wasn't like Mitch...Matt...walked around like a cartoon ogre. She said maybe she wanted to see something in Matt. He noted that there were fun times in their early years. Matt realized that Sienna was looking for things in him that were wishful thinking, like honesty.

Sienna told Matt that his raw honesty was definitely new. Matt quipped that he wanted to lie sometimes. Sienna pressed for details. Matt said that Victor was a lot. He wondered if he could get a drink. Sienna told him "one." Sienna noted that she remembered everything. Matt took a sip of the drink. He said he didn't trust Victor or any of them. She wondered if they were setting him up. Sienna wondered why Matt stayed -- unless he was planning something himself.

Matt said his goal was to show everyone that he wasn't the guy he used to be. Sienna pointed out that people know Matt to be a liar. She didn't know about his past. Matt complimented Sienna, telling her that she deserved better. Matt said that she deserved a good man who would love her the right way.

On cue, Noah appeared in the background. Noah firmly told Matt to take a hike. Matt wondered if he was the real problem, if Noah was announcing what he and Sienna could or could not do.

Nick and Sharon

Nick told Sharon at Crimson Lights that Nikki's bandages are coming off soon. Nick said that he was more worried about Nikki's condition than she was. Nick said that Nikki and Claire are pragmatic. He doesn't know what other medical options there might be, as the surgery was textbook.

Nick said that he had to stay clean now and for the rest of her life. Sharon brought up her bipolar diagnosis. She said it's about taking daily medicine; Nick said it's about keeping his stress under control.

Nick shared his concern about Matt with Sharon. He couldn't control his dad, but he could control what he did -- like getting rid of Matt. Nick wondered if Sharon didn't buy Matt's reformed act anymore than he did. Sharon said that fear is a reflex now. Sharon did note that Matt saved Nick's life. Nick wondered if Matt would be walking around town the way he was now if Nick had died that night. Sharon said the idea of waiting for Matt to make a move was too much. Sharon wondered if Nick was going to medicate to deal with his feelings for Matt.

Nick said that he won't turn to drugs. He noted his mother is facing blindness, and she's not reaching for a bottle of booze. Nick and Sharon decided to go over to The Shadow Room to visit Noah, not realizing Matt was there.

Noah ripped into Matt for his past actions. He said he had zero interest in returning to his old, wicked ways. Matt yelled that he wouldn't go back to violence or drug-dealing. Matt said that he identified as a non-psychotic person. Matt said everyone deserves forgiveness. Just then, Nick and Sharon walked in as Matt said that he was tired of trying to prove to Noah and everyone that he was a human being.

Nick ordered Matt not to talk to his boy that way in his club. Sharon suggested that if Matt didn't want to be seen as a threat, then don't act in a threatening manner. Sharon asked Sienna if she was okay. Noah said that no amount of memory loss would change the past. Matt said that his trying to show everyone had changed was fruitless. Matt said he was out.

Countdown

Nikki continued to count out the number of steps she needed to take to get to the stairs. Victor asked Nikki what she was doing when she attempted to climb up the stairs.

Victor helped Nikki down the stairs. She said she had an urge to protect people's feelings. Nikki said that she knew Victor would do anything to keep her safe. Nikki said she wants to walk around stairs, so that she could learn to get around the house -- unless he was planning on throwing her out again.

Victor helped Nikki to the sofa, telling her she could have handled this alone, as she is capable of anything. Victor brought Nikki a shawl because she was cold. He asked her if she was concerned about the bandages coming off her eyes.

Nikki said that she was looking at all the possibilities because she wasn't going to let the options defeat her -- not even the ones that pertained to the two of them. After Victor took a call, Nikki said she was in limbo and wanted to talk. Victor told his wife that she was safe there. Nikki said that she was angry, but that she felt safe with him. She knew Victor cared, but every time she wanted to talk, he found an excuse to walk away. Nikki wondered if Victor's hatred of Jack was stronger than his love for her.

Nikki fretted that everyone was in one world and she was in another. She wondered if it was wrong for her to want more. Nikki said that if she didn't have Victor, she didn't know how to do this. Victor held a crying Nikki in his arms.
