At the new Newman ranch, Victor prompted Adam and Chelsea to explain to Victoria how they’d reclaimed Newman Media without any bloodshed. Adam questioned why Victor was giving them the third degree. Victor reasoned that he had a right to know what was being done in his name without his approval. Adam claimed that he’d informed Sally and Audra that Victor would never buy back something that had been stolen from him, and they’d relinquished the company to save themselves from a bloody battle and public humiliation.

Victoria recalled that Sally and Audra had sworn to do whatever they could to keep Newman Media, and she wondered how Adam had gotten them to change their minds. Chelsea contended that she’d appealed to Sally and Audra as an outsider who knew what it was like to be on Victor’s bad side. Victoria found it highly unlikely that smart, savvy businesswomen would give up an asset to the competition without any compensation.

Victoria sensed that Adam and Chelsea were leaving something out. Adam ranted that he’d bent over backwards to fall in line despite being passed over as CEO after spending months standing by Victor while their company was under attack. Adam pointed out that he was still there as a loyal soldier doing Victor’s bidding, but he hinted that he might turn to his dark side instead if his father kept pushing.

Chelsea empathized with Adam’s frustration over being scrutinized and interrogated after doing something great for the company. Chelsea suggested that Victor and Victoria thank Adam for handing them a massive gift instead of grilling him. Adam grumbled that it wasn’t a coup unless Victor was the one who pulled it off. After Adam and Chelsea walked out, Victoria pledged to find out what they were hiding.

Keeping Secrets

At the Chancellor Park Café, Adam trusted Sally and Audra to stick to their story, but he wasn’t sure that would be enough. Chelsea praised Adam for lending credibility to their story by showing outrage and defiance, but she assured him that she hadn’t been acting when she’d stood up for him. Chelsea wondered if part of Adam wanted to make a play for the entire Newman empire in retaliation for Victor giving the top spot to Victoria.

Adam admitted that he would love the validation and power, but it would be at too high a cost. He swore that working with Chelsea and spending time as a family with Connor was more than enough for him. Adam wished they’d kept Newman Media for themselves, noting that Victor and Victoria could take it away anytime they wanted.

At Crimson Lights, Sally and Audra toasted to Audra closing a major deal and the capital they’d raised from selling Newman Media. Audra advised Sally to tell Billy about selling his gift back to his sworn enemy before he heard it from someone else. Sally promised she’d tell Billy later that day, but she wanted to savor their moment of victory first.

At home, Billy told Cane over a call that his lawyers were looking over his employment contract with Chancellor, and he vowed to make the job his top priority. Billy received an incoming call from Jill, but he ignored it. After Billy hung up, he researched the history of Chancellor online to brainstorm about what complexities Jill was hiding inside the company, but he found nothing he didn’t already know and resolved to dig deeper.

Billy answered a call from Sally, who informed him that she had big news that she should have told him earlier, but it hadn’t seemed like the right time. Billy revealed that he’d picked up a copy of her favorite childhood book, and he proposed that they start reading it to the baby. Sally told Billy that she’d be home soon.

Audra was sure Sally could convince Billy it had been the right move, but Sally lamented that she’d repaid Billy for his faith in her by giving his gift back to his enemy without even asking for his input. Sally felt that she was betraying her pact with Billy not to keep things from one another. Audra reasoned that Sally had needed to act fast to keep Spectra-Charles safe. Sally reluctantly planned to lie to Billy about the terms of the deal because she wasn’t sure she could trust him with the truth.

Sweet Little Lies

Victoria stopped by Billy and Sally’s house, hoping to see Sally. Billy updated her about Jack’s recovery, and Victoria reported that everything was back on track at Newman. Victoria imagined Billy had been shocked to hear about Adam and Chelsea convincing Sally to give Newman Media back. Billy pretended that Sally had told him the news already.

Victoria was curious how Adam and Chelsea had persuaded Sally and Audra to let Newman Media go without any compensation. Sally arrived home and stopped in her tracks when she saw Victoria. Billy informed Sally that Victoria had been filling him in about the Newman Media deal. Sally rambled that everything had happened fast, and she and Audra had decided to return Newman Media assets because they’d feared losing everything to Victor. Victoria scoffed at the idea of giving up an invaluable asset without putting up a fight.

Sally recounted that Victor hadn’t been interested in buying the company back, and she’d known Adam would never agree to a deal that went against Victor’s wishes. Victoria hoped the score had been settled, and they could all just get back to work. After Victoria left, Billy accused Sally of sitting on the news because she’d been too afraid to tell him.

Sally explained that she’d intended to tell Billy earlier, but he’d been upset about Jill keeping something from him. Sally swore that she’d had to act quickly when Victor had threatened to level Spectra-Charles. Billy was livid that Adam had Chelsea had bullied their way into taking whatever they wanted, and he refused to let it stand. Sally begged Billy to leave it alone. He asked what else she wasn’t telling him.

Losing Faith

In her room, Nikki reached for a tube of lipstick but hesitated to apply it herself. Nikki entered the living room and called out to ask if anyone was home, and Victor helped her get settled on the couch. Nikki confided that she’d had a rough night, since she hadn’t been as prepared as she’d thought to still be blind once the bandages had been removed. Victor stressed that her condition might be temporary, but Nikki balked at holding out hope.

Victor fussed over Nikki as Victoria returned and asked how her mom was feeling. Nikki snapped that she wished everyone would stop asking because she was angry, scared, and blind. Nikki stood up and insisted on getting around on her own, but she stumbled into Victor’s arms, sobbing.
