Billy joined Sally and Jill at the Chancellor Park Cafe. Jill pointed out to Billy that she had left him some messages. Billy said he'd been preoccupied. Jill said that she'd heard Jack was in the hospital. Sally asked if Jack was okay.

Jill said if Billy and Sally knew Patty the way that she did, they wouldn't be surprised that Patty stabbed Jack. Jill wondered how Patty even got close enough to get to Jack. Jill couldn't believe that Patty had been released. Jill said Victor had plenty of issues of his own with Jack.

Billy quipped that Jill and Victor were old pals, so his trashing Victor probably upset her. Next, Billy ordered some good to go for Kyle and Diane. Sally complimented

Jill told Billy that if he were expecting him to defend Victor, then he was wasting his time. Jill told Billy her business with Victor was in the past. Jill couldn't figure out why Diane was being charged. Sally said Patty was crafty. Jill quipped that Chris should know what Patty's about since she was married to the nutcase's brother (Paul).

Billy said he needed to clear his mind. Sally said that she and Jill had been talking about nothing before he got there. Jill shared that they'd been talking about Billy. Jill asked Billy what his plans were.

Sally said that she told Jill about Cane's offer to give Billy a job. Jill said that she admired Cane's gesture. Billy conceded that the offer seemed genuine. Jill said that she agreed to finance his media company because she wanted to give him some direction. She wondered how he could work for Cane at Chancellor Industries.

Billy said that he had no problem working alongside Sally. Jill wondered why they weren't going to go ahead with that plan. Billy said that he got more joy out of watching Sally work without him. Jill noted that the company was doing well. She had no problem putting her money and trust in Sally's vision. However, Jill said that Billy's current status concerned her. She didn't like Billy being idle. Jill said that Billy going back to Chancellor wasn't ideal. Billy said that it was too late to show maternal concern.

Billy said that he doesn't hear from his mother for weeks at a time. He wanted to know why she didn't tell her that she was sick. Jill countered that Billy doesn't keep her updated on his life -- like having a baby. Billy angrily said that Jill has four kids: him, Phillip, Cane, and Chancellor Industries. Billy's food came. He paid for it and told Jill that she would be going back to England soon. Jill tearfully said that Billy couldn't wait for her to go.

Billy said that he wasn't trying to run Jill out of town. He was concerned about Jill's health. She asked for another talk. Billy was focused on Jack's health. He kissed Sally goodbye and told her that he loved her. He left without saying anything to Jill. Sally expressed her sympathies to Jill. Sally said that Billy was upset and that he would come around. Jill doubted that would be possible.

Legal Stratgegy

Michael reminded Christine that Patty is unstable, something that she should remember, as she was once her sister-in-law. Chris said that she had no choice but to file charges against Diane based on the evidence she'd been given. Chris said that Diane was lucky to have Michael as a lawyer.

Michael asked Chris to realize that it's ironic that Patty was trying to blame Diane for Jack's stabbing. Chris said that Dr. Markham claimed Diane is responsible. Michael likened Diane stabbing Jack because of Patty to the unlikely scenario in which Chris stabbed Danny because of Phyllis! Just as Chris would never do that, Michael believed that neither would Diane. Michael pointed out that the burden of proof was on Chris -- not on him to prove something didn't happen.

Chris said that she had enough evidence to take Diane to trial. Chris said that she was happy to be back in the district attorney's office, but there was pressure in going after people she knew. "It's unsettling when it happens," Chris said.

Michael said that Patty never should have been released from the hospital. Chris said that her staff is looking into how Patty was transferred from Rivercrest to Dr. Markham's clinic.

Chris said that, according to Markham, Patty appeared to be getting better. Michael countered his suspicion that Dr. Markham wasn't playing with a full deck. Chris said discrediting Markham would be tough to do. Chris advised Michael about taking his accusations too far.

Then, Lauren appeared. Chris decided to leave them alone after she told Lauren that they were overdue for a coffee date. Lauren asked Michael how bad things were. Lauren wondered why Chris wouldn't believe Diane over Patty.

Michael said that Patty did a damn good job of making Diane look guilty. Lauren wondered what if Jack didn't wake up to tell the judge in time. Michael lamented that it would be worse if Jack didn't wake up at all.

Lauren sensed Michael was having trouble holding up. She could see how worried he was. Michael said that when he was in the courtroom waiting for Diane, he recalled Fenmore giving him a ship-in-a-bottle kit. Lauren quipped that it was supposed to be for his retirement, but that he couldn't find the directions. Michael said that's what he needed now -- the directions on how to free Diane.

Michael told Lauren that she's a great example of why he's such a great man. Lauren wondered if Michael regretted not having a full-time job with Victor, as he had put his retirement on hold. Michael said no because now he has more time with Lauren, Fenmore, and Scotty.

A Bloody Mess

Meanwhile, Diane and Kyle fretted over Jack at the hospital. Diane feared Patty was out there plotting her next move. Kyle said that he arranged for security to be outside Jack's door. Diane told Kyle that he saved her from Markham, and he helped them get to Jack in time. Diane lamented that Patty had set her up to take the fall for Jack's attack.

Diane recapped for Kyle that Patty had framed her with Dr. Markham's help. Kyle said he'd be Diane's alibi. Diane said that a case could be made that Kyle would be arguing. Diane said Jack needs to wake up and tell Christine that Patty stabbed him and not Diane.

A nurse told Kyle and Diane that Jack's CT scan should take about an hour. They decided to leave. After they exited, we saw Patty disguised as a nurse, hovering nearby.

Kyle and Diane returned home. Diane wondered how she could ever step foot into the dining room again. Kyle reassured his mother, which prompted Diane to tell her son that he sounded just like his father. They hugged.

Diane wondered why Jack let Patty move in at all. Kyle said that he did it for Diane. Patty had made it very clear that Diane wouldn't be safe otherwise. Diane wanted to scream. She hated that Patty got to her and that she doubted Jack's love. Kyle understood that his mother was going to be haunted by the image of Diane seeing Jack and Patty in bed. Kyle was confident that Jack was going to clear things up once he woke up.

Diane said that Jack's healing -- not hers -- was what she was focused on. Diane said that the family was still at risk with Patty being out there on the loose. Kyle said that they have no control over how Patty will retaliate.

Back at the hospital, Patty walked around dressed as a nurse. She spotted Jack's guard outside his room.

Meanwhile, Diane looked lovingly at a photo of her and Jack on their wedding day. Kyle told Diane that Billy was bringing food to the hospital.

Patty snuck into Jack's room, asking him if he'd missed her when the guard was distracted by getting a cup of water. Meanwhile, Kyle and Diane headed back to the hospital.

Patty told an unconscious Jack that he was a fighter. She said it was killing her to do what she had to do next. Patty said that she worked way too hard to convince everyone that Diane was responsible. She took Jack's hand and kissed it. Patty said Jack would take their secret to the grave. Then, she took out a syringe and then she leaned into him!
