On the Monday, June 22, 2026, episode of The Young and the Restless, Jack met Dr. Markham, Diane plotted to escape, and Claire told Victor about Nikki’s headaches.
What happened on The Young and the Restless

At Dr. Markham’s house, Diane unsuccessfully attempted to figure out the password on the cell phone she’d found. She quickly hid the phone when Markham returned from a jog, and she suggested she join him on his next run. Markham worried about Diane literally running away from her problems, and he invited her to use the full gym in the basement instead. Diane raved about how hospitable he’d been despite her not making it easy. Markham agreed to start having informal sessions in his home instead of taking her to a clinic.
Markham jotted down notes about everything Diane said to track her progress. She reiterated that sleeping pills might help with her nightmares, and he intended to discuss it further after he got back from a meeting in town. Diane inquired about his zodiac sign, and Markham mentioned that he’d just had a birthday on June 9. She mused that she had a feeling they’d been fated to cross paths.
After Markham left, Diane retrieved the cell phone but remained unable to unlock it. Diane realized the only way to escape might be to let Markham think he was in control.
At the Breakfast Table

At the Abbott mansion, Jack was taken aback when he discovered an elaborate breakfast on the dining room table. Patty walked in and announced that she’d given Mrs. Martinez the day off and made breakfast herself. Jack prepared to leave for a meeting at work, but Patty informed him that she’d had his assistant rearrange his schedule to give him the morning off to enjoy breakfast. Jack snapped that letting her move in had been a mistake.
Patty reminded Jack of their deal, warning that she couldn’t vouch for Diane’s safety if he didn’t hold up his end. Jack begrudgingly sat down to eat and reasoned that having the morning off freed up time for him to meet with Diane’s doctor. He was stunned when Patty told him she’d already arranged for the doctor to stop by the mansion that day.
Jack preferred to see the clinic where Diane was getting treatment. Patty flirtatiously stated that she and Jack could find something else to do if he didn’t want to see the doctor at the mansion, but he insisted that they keep the appointment. Patty promised everything would work out great for everyone, so there was no need for him to get huffy. Jack apologized and thanked her for setting up the meeting.
Patty fished for compliments about the food she’d prepared and wondered what she and Jack would do to pass the time until the doctor arrived. Jack sent her to the kitchen to retrieve some lemon curd to pair with the muffins she’d made. Jack sent a text message to Kyle, instructing him to wait outside the mansion and follow the doctor to see if he led them to Diane.
Markham "Updates" Jack

Markham arrived at the mansion and claimed that he was filling in for Diane’s therapist, who had needed to tend to an emergency. Markham objected to Jack speaking with Diane directly, citing Jack’s betrayal as the reason for her psychological spiral. Markham stood behind confidentiality reasons to avoid providing more details, and he advised Jack to trust in the therapeutic process. Patty pointedly added that the priority was to keep Diane safe.
Jack pressed to know more about Markham’s decision to release Patty. Patty gave her consent for the doctor to tell Jack everything. Markham declared her as sane as he was, and he explained that she’d been released because she’d acknowledged what she’d done was wrong and shown genuine remorse.
After Markham left, Jack expressed frustration that he still didn’t know where or how Diane was. Patty sympathized that he felt abandoned, and she anticipated that he’d eventually realize she loved him and that he loved her back. Patty swore that Jack would see that Diane’s love hadn’t been real, and she pledged to show him what real love was as his friend, confidante, lover – and wife.
Markham returned home, and Diane chirped that she was ready for her first session to start healing with his help. She praised him for being patient while she found her way to trust him, and she cooed that she couldn’t thank him enough.
The Blind Truth

Claire stopped by the new Newman ranch to see Victor. Victor proposed that Newman build a new publishing division, and Claire invited him to brunch to discuss it further. They made plans to meet at the Athletic Club later.
At a doctor’s office, Nikki’s doctor informed Nikki and Victoria that an MRI had shown that Nikki had a mass pressing on her optic nerve that was causing her headaches. He cautioned that if unsuccessfully treated, the condition could lead to total blindness. The doctor showed them scans of the mass and explained that the best action would be surgery, but there was a risk that the operation itself could also cause blindness.
Nikki and Victoria retreated to Nikki’s hotel suite, reeling from the diagnosis. Victoria offered to reach out to Nate to get his thoughts. Claire called Nikki and invited her to brunch, but Nikki said she wasn’t up for it. Victoria implored a distraught Nikki to explore all options by getting more medical opinions to ensure they made the right decision. Nikki accepted that the facts were indisputable, but she pledged to get through it. Victoria pleaded with her mother to let her call Victor to tell him about Nikki’s diagnosis.
Nikki was adamant that Victor could not find out about her condition. Victoria insisted that Victor would want to be there for Nikki and help find the best doctors, and he’d be devastated if he found out later and hadn’t been by his wife’s side. Nikki huffed that she didn’t need Victor or his pity. She refused to show Victor any weakness, and she asked her daughter to promise that she wouldn’t tell her father the truth.
Claire Blabs to Victor

At the Athletic Club, Claire rambled to Victor about the possibility of naming Newman’s new publishing division after her father. Victor noticed an extra place setting and surmised she’d asked Nikki to join them. Claire admitted that she’d invited Nikki because she loved both her grandparents and wanted them to see past their differences. Claire pointed out that Victor and Nikki had learned to compromise in the past to find their way back to one another.
Claire figured that Victor and Nikki were both too stubborn to make the first concession, but Victor argued that Nikki’s empty seat showed them how she felt. Claire declared that Victor deserved to know the truth about why Nikki wasn’t there. Claire divulged that Nikki had been experiencing vision-blurring headaches, and Victoria had taken Nikki to a doctor that morning.
