Here is your The Young and the Restless recap for Wednesday, June 3, 2026 featuring Nick's ultimatum to get Newman back from Phyllis.
What happened on The Young and the Restless

Claire returned to Genoa City and immediately met with her mother at Society. She hoped that her grandparents were headed toward a reconciliation, but neither Nikki nor Victor were willing to give an inch. As much as their family wanted them back together, it wasn't up to anyone else to decide their future.
Claire asked for an update on both Newman and Matt Clark, and luckily for the family, there was progress on both fronts. Victoria wanted all of the scoop about Holden and Malcolm, eagerly wondering what the future held for her daughter.
After hearing all about the bonding that Claire and Holden did on the trip, Victoria asked what their official status was. Things went from casual to just friends to nothing to friends to whatever this new gray area was. Claire saw a path toward a relationship with Holden, but she wasn't in a rush for anything serious.
Brotherly love

Holden returned to Genoa City as well, and his first visit was Crimson Lights, where he ran into Lily and Devon. Lily was excited to see her brother, but like always lately, Devon gave off an attitude. Since Dominic's kidnapping, it seemed as if he truly struggled to maintain happiness for long. He was determined to stay miserable.
Lily received a phone call that took her away from the table, giving Devon an opening to attack Holden. He was convinced that Holden was being an opportunist, looking for a way to exploit his newfound connection to the Winters family. While they couldn't change Holden's blood connection to the family, Devon was clear that this wouldn't be Holden's ticket to advancing in life.
Malcolm was on track to get released far sooner than they realized. Devon couldn't help himself but make dirty looks and essentially roll his eyes any time that it looked like Holden and Lily were bonding as siblings. Was it jealousy? Was he still consumed by the anger about his son's kidnapping?
Holden promised that he wasn't after anything. He was dropped into the situation just like everyone else, and there was no ulterior motive with trying to get close to Lily. He needed Devon to trust him. Holden covered for Devon when Lily returned to the table, but she wasn't buying it. As soon as Holden left, she asked Devon why he was interrogating her new brother.
Devon questioned why Lily constantly advocated for people that didn't have her best interests in mind. This felt like something different, though. Did he not trust them, or did he have difficulty trusting Lily? All of this felt like it was questioning her judgment in some capacity.
Ghosts of the past

Noah and Sienna remained at the Shadow Room replica, and they struggled to reconcile the Matt they knew with the man that broke down in front of them. She appreciated everything that Noah was doing to bring her life from Los Angeles to Genoa City. However, she wasn't certain about being a part of the new version of the club.
Noah tried to apologize for triggering her, but she assured him that there was no way to have known how it would've hit her. After everything they endured at Matt's hands, it was too much to take in, and she needed some processing time. The priority needed to be on what was going to happen with Matt, which everyone was still in the dark about.
The end of the road

Phyllis was completely shocked that Nick turned on her so quickly, despite how she saved his life. He was willing to deliver her to the Las Vegas police to secure Newman Enterprises from her. Nick asked Phyllis to calm down, but she was completely beside herself. She and Nick had always remained close, and even with the way she stole Newman from Victor, his treatment of her was entirely out of character.
Phyllis screamed that Nick was a drug addict and that his addiction was causing his hostility toward her. Nick was adamant that his drug addiction had nothing to do with it, and while he was grateful that she saved him, it wasn't a get-out-of-jail-free card. Her options were simple. She could either hand over the company, or she could spend years behind bars.
Michael showed up to stand in as Phyllis' friend and ally, but Nick didn't care. The clock was running out for her, and she had until the end of the day to give the company back to his family. She was running out of options.
Michael pointed out that there was no guarantee that Phyllis would escape the charges, even if she handed the company back. However, Nick was willing to tell Christine that the emails were fabricated, even if that implicated his own father in a crime.
After Nick was gone, Michael again implored Phyllis to consider the choice that she had actively avoided from the very beginning. Giving up control of the company and handing it back to the Newmans might be her only remaining choice. For the first time, she was willing to consider it because nothing else had worked.
Nick later returned to the ranch with Victor, and he asked for an update on Matt. Victor explained that all of Matt's memories came flooding back, and he seemed to be remorseful and wanted a second chance. The question remaining was whether or not he was being genuine or just playing them so they wouldn't expect it when he struck again.
Nick stunned his father by advocating to keep Phyllis out of prison. He still cared about her as the mother of his daughter, and he wanted a drama-free path forward. This was a complete reversal of what he said to Phyllis at the club, so something was not adding up. He was willing to send her to prison to get the company back, but if she did cooperate, he was just as willing to help her prove that the emails were fake.
Paging Dr. Simmons

Stephanie was also back in Genoa City, and Nate was the first person that she bumped into. She gave him a positive update about Malcolm, and they bonded over their shared love of medicine. However, Stephanie was in town to support Holden because the truth about his paternity was still quite fresh, and she was concerned that the weight of the news would hit him hard and fast.
Nate hinted around at the idea of Stephanie wanting more permanent roots in Genoa City, and she revealed that she actually had an offer to work at the hospital. They're in search of a new chief of staff, and she fit the bill. Nate confessed that he was the person who threw her name into the ring, and she was a bit surprised. However, she was open to the career change.
