Here is your The Young and the Restless recap for Tuesday, March 31, 2026 featuring Summer and Daniel cutting Phyllis off, and Mariah leaving for treatment.
What happened on The Young and the Restless

Claire saw Kyle outside of Chancellor Café and asked if she could join him. She heard that Diane had moved out of the Abbott mansion, and he confirmed it. Claire asked if Kyle would be willing to share what led to his mother's departure from the family home.
Kyle blamed Victor for the entire recent situation, and he was tired of his endless vendetta against his family. Kyle wasn't surprised that Victor would take time out of his quest to get Newman back to stick it to Jack one more time.
Kyle revealed that Victor put a "psychopath" in Jack's path, which caused a downward spiral in his parents' marriage. Claire asked if the woman on the yacht was responsible for Diane moving out. She told Kyle that Nikki moved out, and Kyle was happy to hear it. He called Victor a horrible person, which prompted some pushback.
Kyle didn't want to hear it. He dragged Victor's tendency to do whatever he felt necessary in the name of family. However, he never cared about who he hurt in the process. Claire didn't think that Victor was responsible for Jack's actions toward Patty.
Claire said it wasn't fair to blame Victor for Jack's inability to say no. Kyle didn't want to go there with Claire because she was incapable of seeing her grandfather for who he truly was. Claire realized that this was always going to remain a source of conflict between the former lovers.

At the Abbott mansion, Jack continued his attempts to reach Diane. He just wanted to make sure that she was safe at the GCAC, and he extended an invitation to return home, so they could work things out. The doorbell rang, and Patty waltzed into the house.
Patty seemed a bit perturbed that Jack hadn't reached out to her. Jack declared that he didn't have time to deal with her. She was disappointed that they had an intimate night together, and he never tried to contact her. Patty touted their chemistry in bed, and she begged him to admit how great it was for him.
Patty refused to leave since she knew Diane no longer resided there. She fanned herself at the idea of what she and Jack did on the yacht. Patty thought that she and Jack would be inevitable, but he accused her again of drugging him. Still, Patty wanted Jack to rip the band-aid off and choose her over Diane.
As Jack attempted to kick Patty out, Billy showed up and demanded to know why she was there. Patty didn't view herself as the villain in their story. After another minute of flirting, she finally agreed to see herself out.
Jack reminded Billy that he was drugged, and he wished Diane would listen to reason about it. Diane wasn't ready to hear anything that Jack wanted to say at this point. Since Kyle hadn't reached out to his father about his lunch with Diane, Jack took that as a sign that things didn't go well.
Jack was ready to make Victor pay for his actions. Diane was his primary concern first and foremost, though. Billy urged his brother to be patient and give her the time she needed to heal from the wound.
Billy told Jack about his upcoming trip to London. Jack was thrilled that Billy was on his way to patch things up with Jill. He felt like it was long overdue, and he hoped they'd formally work things out.

Nate and Devon discussed the revelation that Lily was never in any danger. Abby came downstairs and gave an update about Mariah. She heard from Christine, and much to her dismay, the judge agreed to a plea deal that would see Mariah facing no prison time. Instead, she would be sent to a psychiatric facility for treatment.
Devon comforted Abby since this wasn't the outcome that she wanted. Abby wished she had a chance to plead the case to the judge because she wanted more justice for her son's abduction. Nate chimed in and reminded Abby that Mariah wasn't in the correct mental state when she kidnapped the boy.
Nate recalled that Mariah did nothing to overtly cause harm to the child. Devon understood that, but he and Abby were more concerned about their son's safety. They respected the judge's decision, but they needed to just hope for the best.
Nate believed that Mariah getting mental health treatment was best for everyone involved. Devon tried his best to see things from Nate's point of view. Abby wondered if they should be scared about the idea of Mariah returning to Genoa City when she got out and repeating her horrific mistake.
Abby and Devon couldn't help but feel slighted that the judge never asked their input on anything. There was no legal recourse for the couple, and Devon wasn't okay with it.

At Crimson Lights, Tessa asked Mariah if she was ready to head to treatment. She didn't have a choice, but it was better than prison. Tessa wanted her wife to get well and find a way back to the person that she used to be. They both were far more hopeful about the future than they'd been in quite some time.
Mariah said she planned to work harder at not putting up walls. She appreciated that Tessa never fully gave up on her, and Tessa confessed that she was almost there. However, Daniel convinced her to give her marriage another shot.
Mariah was happy that Tessa had someone like Daniel to lean on because she had no idea when they'd be reunited. Tessa didn't understand why Mariah wouldn't see her since she was supposed to accompany her and Sharon to the facility. However, Mariah had once again changed her mind.
Although Mariah appreciated Tessa's support, she didn't think it was the best course of action. Tessa couldn't understand why Mariah wouldn't want her to come with her since they were finally back on track. The more Mariah thought about everything, the more ashamed she became of taking Dominic from his parents.
Mariah hated that she pushed Tessa away while she was in that headspace. She needed to find another way to heal herself. Mariah expected the process to be highly emotional, and she didn't think she could handle Tessa being there for it. Tessa listened to what her wife had to say, and she asked what she could do instead.
Mariah knew they weren't technically together anymore. Not surviving as a couple was on her. Tessa didn't want that to be at the forefront of her wife's mind. She assured her that they were working on things and that it would be okay. Mariah thought things felt as close to normal as they had for the first time, and Tessa agreed that she finally recognized the person across from her after many months of not being able to.
Mariah was positive that she could heal from this. She hoped the next time they were reunited, they could return to whatever they used to be. Tessa thought perhaps they could build something even better.

Victoria stormed into Phyllis' office, and she noticed the self-portrait of the new company owner on the wall. Phyllis recalled Victoria's time when her face was on the wall, but Victoria believed her tenure would be brief. Victoria handed Phyllis a letter that Summer had delivered to her in Milan.
Victoria rubbed in how immersed she was in Summer's life during her quick visit. She was more than pleased to deliver the letter to her rival, her grin widening exponentially as she walked away. Victoria left Phyllis to sulk in the sorrows of her daughter's disdain.
Phyllis read the letter, and Summer didn't hold back. Summer had no plans on forgiving her mother. She was done trying to rein her mother in or get her to do the right thing. Summer took Phyllis' takeover of Newman as a personal attack, and she claimed that she'd never forgive her for what she'd done.
Daniel met Phyllis at Society later on, and she showed him the letter from Summer. He didn't think his mother should have been too surprised at the level of animosity in the letter. Phyllis naively expected more from her daughter.
Phyllis didn't think she deserved the level of hatred Summer exhibited in the letter. Daniel confirmed that he had a problem with the means by which she acquired the company. He and Summer wanted nothing to do with the company or Phyllis. The only way they'd repair things with her was if she returned what she stole from the Newmans.

Later, Victoria joined Nate at the GCAC bar and filled him in on her trip. Although Summer wasn't ready to return to Genoa City to face Phyllis, she wrote a letter that Victoria thought would be a game-changer. Nate asked if Victoria felt any remorse for aiding in the demise of a mother/daughter relationship.
Victoria asked Nate how he was doing, and he filled her in about Lily's return to Genoa City. He hoped she would have been upfront with him, and he was upset that she kept the truth from him. Victoria apologized, and she assumed Lily was the one who finally came clean.
Victoria hated keeping Nate in the dark, but she wanted to abide by her father's wishes. Nate was terrified about Lily's safety, and Victoria realized that she was wrong. Nate was disappointed in Victoria and Lily both for being complicit in this.
