This week on Y&R, Christine pledged to handle the case against Phyllis and Cane by the book. After a digital forensics expert found the incriminating emails to be legitimate, Michael urged Phyllis to make a deal, but she vehemently refused. Phyllis threatened to expose Christine in the media as being in Victor’s back pocket, and Christine dared her to do it, vowing to bankrupt her by suing her for defamation in return. Lily blasted Phyllis for dragging Cane down with her.

Phyllis struck up a conversation with Matt at the Athletic Club bar, but she remained unaware of who he was. Patty later befriended Matt at Crimson Lights, and he opened up about his memory issues. Phyllis chased Patty away and warned Matt about Patty’s sordid past. Matt appealed to Phyllis to help him put the pieces of his past together. After Matt described his encounter with Noah in the park, Phyllis realized that Matt was the madman who’d tortured the Newmans for years.

Matt began having flashes of his past, including an altercation with Nick. Phyllis put Matt up at the Athletic Club and provided him with food and clothes under the guise of helping him. After encouraging Matt to stay holed up at the hotel, she approached Victor and offered to give him Matt if the charges against her were dropped. Victor demanded that she turn over both Newman Enterprises and Matt, but Phyllis firmly declined. Phyllis panicked when she returned to Matt’s room and found it empty.

Adam suspected that Nick was continuing to use drugs, but Nick dodged his brother’s questions. Nick considered staging a scene to make it look like he killed Matt in self-defense. Adam voiced his concerns to Victor, who cautioned Nick against risking a prison sentence. Nick melted down in front of his father, admitting he felt like he’d failed everyone.

Nick met with a drug dealer in the park and scored more pills, which he consumed. Nick begged Victor to accept Phyllis’ deal to turn over Matt, but Victor and Adam disagreed. Nick went to Phyllis and offered to convince Christine to drop the charges if she handed Matt off directly to him.

Jack insinuated to Nikki that it might be time to let go of her marriage, and Diane spotted them during a close moment. After a chat with Sally, Diane finally reached out to Jack and left a message saying she wanted to try to find a way to move forward.

Diane had a nightmare in which Jack had moved on with Patty. In Diane's dream, Patty claimed that she and Jack had a daughter. Meanwhile, at the bar at Society, Jack played nice with Patty and got her to admit that Victor had arranged for them to be trapped together on the yacht. Jack asked Patty to help him get revenge on Victor for destroying his marriage.
