At Society, Diane and Kyle tended to an ailing Jack while Billy called for an ambulance. Jack panted that he couldn’t breathe, and Diane begged him to stay with her. They heard sirens in the distance as Jack appeared to lose consciousness. Diane pleaded with Jack to open his eyes as Billy rushed out to meet the paramedics.

Later, Billy and Kyle retreated to Jabot, where they compared notes about how the scene had been more emotional than they’d expected. Billy anticipated that Spectra-Charles was making sure the news hit social media. Kyle asked whether Sally had activated her part of the plan.

Fake News

At Crimson Lights, Adam rushed in to meet Sally, noting that her message had sounded urgent. She informed him that she needed a favor that could be a matter of life or death, and he assumed that it was about her baby. Sally gently explained that if something had happened to the baby, she wouldn’t have called Adam, but she thanked him for caring.

Sally surmised that Newman Media would post something about Patty’s escape, and she inquired whether Adam was open to putting a spin on it. Sally conceded that she needed a bigger platform to get the word out as a favor to Jack. Sally requested that Newman Media lean into Patty’s obsession with Jack when reporting that Jack had just been taken to the hospital after having a possible heart attack.

Sally revealed that the trip to the hospital was a ruse to lure Patty into visiting Jack, so the cops could apprehend her. Sally thought Patty would be skeptical if Spectra-Charles was the only outlet to report Jack’s medical emergency, but seeing the story on Newman Media would convince Patty it was real. Adam enthusiastically agreed to help set a trap for the madwoman.

Sally showed up at Jabot as Billy announced that the news about Jack was all over Newman Media’s platforms. Billy worried about what the outcome would be if the police weren’t prepared for Patty to show up at the hospital.

At the hospital, Diane commended Jack’s Oscar-worthy performance. Jack was grateful to Detective Burrow and the paramedics for helping to pull off the ruse. Jack expected Patty to call him once the news of his heart attack broke, but Diane contemplated whether they were the ones about to walk into a trap. Jack assured Diane that Patty would take the bait.

Adam Fills Victor In

Adam stopped by the new Newman ranch and found Victor reading about Patty’s escape. Victor huffed that it had been disturbing to hear about Jack’s heart attack in one of his own publications instead of being informed directly. Adam warned Victor not to open the champagne yet.

Adam claimed that he’d hesitated to tell Victor about Jack in fear that Victor would alert Patty. Victor insisted that he didn’t know or care where Patty was. Adam divulged that Jack had faked his heart attack to lure Patty out of hiding. Victor thought Jack might be Patty’s downfall, and he hinted that her fixation on Jack could be something people might exploit.

Adam hoped Victor wasn’t planning to use the information to hurt Jack. Victor asked if Adam was siding with Jack over him, but Adam insisted that he was just helping to keep someone safe from a psychopath. Adam advised Victor not to get involved. Victor ordered Adam to keep him updated on Patty’s moves.

Change in Plans

At the Riverbank Motel, Phyllis demanded to know who had convinced Matt to back away from their plan. He claimed that he’d decided on his own, but she guessed from the heavy scent of perfume that Patty had been there. Matt admitted that Patty had visited him after she’d slipped away from the guards at the hospital.

Matt recounted that Patty had warned him that it would only be a matter of time before Phyllis stabbed him in the back again. He continued that Patty had said redemption was impossible for someone like him. Phyllis insisted it wasn’t true because he was a good man, but Patty was trying to screw with his head to draw out an evil side that wasn’t there anymore.

Matt reasoned that he didn’t know what had made his dark side go away, so he couldn’t be sure it wouldn’t emerge again. Phyllis implored him to listen to her and not a crazy psychopath. Matt realized he should have called the police. Phyllis started to do so but stopped. She figured that Patty needed to pay, but they could make sure it happened in a way that benefited them.

Phyllis contended that there would be no better way for Matt to redeem himself than to bring Patty to justice. She argued that he’d look like a hero, and there would be no harm to anyone. Matt liked the idea, but he still thought they were playing with fire. Phyllis swore that the only one to get burned would be Patty.

Kitty Confidante

In a deserted alley, Patty held a stuffed cat close and cooed that she’d missed Mr. Kitty. She confessed to having second thoughts about leaving town after her phone call with Jack. Patty recognized that everything she cared about was there, and she had a potential ally in Matt. Patty vowed to get Matt away from Phyllis and convince him to do whatever she wanted to the citizens of Genoa City.

Patty planned to enlist Matt to do her dirty work while she got back on the path to redemption, but she needed to ensure the path was clear by getting Diane out of the picture. Patty told Mr. Kitty that she’d decided to take the high road and give her ex-husband another chance. Patty believed Jack hadn’t meant to hurt her and that he’d been led astray by the voices in his ear – especially Diane’s. Patty imagined that it might take drugging and incarceration at first to get him to fall back in love with her, but they’d eventually live a glorious life together.

Patty checked her phone for news on her escape and was pleased to see Newman Media had featured an article about her. She marveled that her name was trending on multiple platforms and crowed that she’d shown everyone who’d thought they’d seen the last of her.

Patty was taken aback when she stumbled across the news that Jack had possibly suffered a heart attack upon learning she’d escaped. She clicked on the video footage of his collapse and hissed that Diane should be the one six feet under, not Jack.

Patty figured that it might be easier to slip Jack out of the hospital than try to get to him at home. She answered a call from Matt and assumed he’d had a change of heart. Matt invited her to his motel room to tell her all about it.
