The Young and the Restless Rehash, May 11: Phyllis's denial knows no boundaries

The Young and the Restless has armed Victor Newman and Phyllis Summers with enough information for each of them to assume that they are right and that the other party is dead wrong. Let's hope this case does go to trial because the fireworks can only get bigger and bolder once folks get up on the witness stand!

The Young and the Restless, ends justify the means

Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) believes that Phyllis stole his company through unethical means (he's not wrong), and he's come up with a way to frame Phyllis for her actions (which technically is wrong).

Phyllis took Newman Enterprises using the AI program (which was wrong), telling herself -- and anyone who would listen -- that Victor has pulled underhanded stuff over the decades (she's not wrong), thereby justifying her actions.

So, no one can tell Victor he's done anything wrong by conjuring up information to "frame" Phyllis. Conversely, no one can tell Phyllis that she shouldn't have done what she did, and if she's not careful, she's going to lose everything.

Phyllis told Michael (Christian LeBlanc), her attorney and friend (who is also Victor's, so he's got some major conflicts going on), and Lauren (Tracey Bregman), her right hand at Summers Conglomorate, that Victor fabricated that evidence, and then he gave it to his "little daughter (Victoria, Amelia Heinle)" and she handed it to the district attorney on a "sliver platter."

While a bit of a skew on things, Phyllis has many of the facts in order. The reality is, though, Michael's point of view is valid, too. "You used fake documents to justify a coup," he pointed out.

"Michael! Seriously! Are you my lawyer?" an incredulous Phyllis interjected.

She just can't wrap her head around the fact that Michael has a point. The man is not wrong.

Phyllis v. Christine

Things got worse (or better, for viewers) when Christine entered the GCAC and Phyllis, against the advice of her attorney (or anyone with a brain in his or her head), confronted the district attorney.

"Hello, Christine," Phyllis cordially began, using a tone that also indicated she was dead serious about everything

"I know why you're a part of this -- because the Newmans are whiny little bitches, tattletales, sore losers," Phyllis stated with absolute conviction!

"Save what you have to say for the judge and jury," Christine advised.

It feels like Phyllis might cave and cut her losses, even though her doing so wouldn't necessarily stop Christine's case from going further.

We'd love nothing more than for this to go to trial. Imagine everyone testifying from their own particular perspective. Who would a jury side with? Which party would Michael represent? And who could end up on the jury?
