The Young and the Restless Rehash, May 13: This is Nick Newman's brain on drugs

Nick Newman's loved ones need to stage an intervention right away on The Young and the Restless. As evidenced by his next plan of attack against Matt Clark on Wednesday, May 13th's episode, Nick is clearly not in his right mind. As the old anti-drug slogan, using two eggs, once said: "This is your brain. This is your brain on drugs."

Nick's idea is scrambled on The Young and the Restless

Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) is on the loose, and Nick's idea to end his enemy's reign of terror is to end Matt's life. Yep. Nick wants to commit murder. He shared with Sharon and Noah that he planned to encounter Matt once the Newman security team locates him. Then, once Matt takes a swing at him, Nick will kill him because it'll be self-defense.

There are a few problems with this. If Nick is planning this scheme, then it won't be self-defense. It'll be first-degree murder because Nick is planning ahead of time to commit an intentional killing.

Granted, the Newmans have been too successful at keeping Matt down using legal methods. He was hauled into court once before, but he got off on a technicality, and he walked. All that was shown off-camera, so it was frustrating.

Nick's idea to have Det. Burrow (Matt Cohen) being a witness to Nick's "self-defense" killing of Matt isn't too well thought out either. Det. Burrow showed he was on the side of good when he helped Devon (Bryton James) and Abby (Melissa Ordway) track down Mariah (Camryn Grimes), who had made off with Dominic (Ethan Ray Clark).

But weren't there some episodes where Det. Burrow was pretending to be Matt's ally, or was he pretending to be a double-agent and had Nick and Sharon fooled? And Nick wants to put all his trust in this guy? It's not a good idea!

Sharon has told Nick that he can't wait another day. He needs to get into rehab now. And who can blame her? Adam (Mark Grossman) is against Nick's idea, too. If one little thing were to go wrong or if one person let slip to the authorities that Nick planned to kill Matt and the Newman heir could go to jail for the rest of his life.

Matt's ultimate revenge

The irony that Matt once tried to frame Nick for his "murder" appears to be lost on Nick. His plan is playing right into Matt's twisted desire to destroy him!

A smart lawyer (paging Michael Baldwin!) could probably convince a jury that Nick wasn't in his right mind. A doctor's report could show that Nick couldn't know the difference between right and wrong. If Nick's still got drugs in his system, they could be affecting his brain.

We could see it now. Michael comes into court with a bowl, a hot plate, a frying pan, and a couple of eggs. "Your honor, if it would please the court," Michael would begin as he cracked an egg into a bowl. "This is your brain," Michael would continue as he held up the bowl with the egg in it.

Then, he would pour the contents of the bowl (the egg) onto a hot frying pan. As the egg sizzled, Michael would hold up the skillet and announce, "This is your brain on drugs."

The brains of Nick's family members are not, however, on drugs. Victor (Eric Braeden), Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott), Adam, Sharon, and Noah need to do an intervention ASAP!
