The Young and the Restless studio, Television City, was also once home, briefly, to the classic ABC sitcom, Three's Company, which chronicled the hijinks of Chrissy, Janet, and Jack. Now, another trio of entertaining fan favorites, Patty, Phyllis, and Matt, who live in Genoa City, not sunny Southern California, are playing a very dark version of sitcom fare, the kind that has some high stakes!

Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) may have amnesia, but he doesn't need memories to pick up on the animosity between Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) and Patty (Stacy Haiduk). Both women came upon Matt at just the right time to further their own agendas. Phyllis is using Matt as leverage against the Newmans to get the charges against her dropped. Meanwhile, Patty, well, she's using Matt to get under Phyllis's skin!

Upon coming upon Patty in the room at the Genoa City Athletic Club that Phyllis got for Matt, she instantly tipped her hand that she and Patty do not get along. Patty scored a point with Matt by revealing to him that Phyllis lied about knowing the Newmans.

Phyllis downplayed her connection to the family, but Patty pointed out that Phyllis's daughter, Summer, was a Newman. That was the wrong move given the whole "let's give Summer a peanut" story beat that Y&R didn't forget about. That prompted Phyllis to blast Patty, ordering her not to even speak her daughter's name!

Forget about being cross-examined by Cricket (Lauralee Bell), Patty interrogated Phyllis, asking her how long she had known who Matt was. Having stirred the pot, Patty agreed to leave so Phyllis and Matt could have some alone time.

"You hate her so much!" Matt observed with a whimsical chuckle. Then, Matt asked Phyllis what she knew about his life. At this point, Phyllis saw an opportunity. She may have wanted Matt to be kept in the dark before, but now, she was ready to let him know just how much he's hated in Genoa City. That way, she can be his protector, which will allow her to leverage knowing where he is with the Newmans.

Phyllis takes control

Phyllis warned Matt that most of the information she was about to give him wasn't good. She let him know about his having committed assault, rape, and attempted murder. The man Matt truly is doesn't care that he's committed all these acts, but interestingly, "Amnesiac Matt" feels horrible that he could be this person!

Phyllis expertly turned the situation around as Matt was begging her not to leave him! Patty and Phyllis are both trying to gain control over Matt, but today's episode showed Phyllis getting the upper hand.

The big question is what will Matt do when he regains his memories and no longer cares that he's a dangerous individual? Click here to read a full recap of today's episode.
