The Young and the Restless: Three reasons why Genoa City needs an art gallery

We regularly see The Young and the Restless characters eating and drinking at Crimson Lights, Society, and the GCAC. Sometimes we see them at Chancellor Park. But one thing Genoa City lacks, and should have, is an art gallery. Here are three reasons why it would be fun to see an art gallery in GC:

We have two artists on The Young and the Restless

We all know that Daniel (Michael Graziadei), a long-time character on The Young and the Restless, is an artist. But we've also been hearing bits and pieces about Audra's art background, as well. Before she came to Genoa City, her dream was to become a successful artist, but she figured it was a long shot. Unfortunately, artists are so often labeled as "starving," as it's hard for them to make a living from their creative talent. So, Audra pursued a business career instead. But in a recent episode, she showed Holden (Nathan Owens) a photo on her phone of a charcoal drawing that she did of him years ago, and it brought a smile to both of their faces.

If Genoa City had an art gallery, both Daniel and Audra could exhibit their work. Coincidentally, both characters have been out of work for a while now. If they could get their paintings on display and for sale in a gallery, then they could both receive some recognition for their talent and they could earn some money.

An art gallery would be a great locale for date night

Genoa City is filled with intelligent business people who appreciate culture and the finer things in life. We can picture couples like Victor and Nikki (Eric Braeden and Melody Thomas Scott), Jack and Diane (Peter Bergman and Susan Walters), and Michael and Lauren (Christian LeBlanc and Tracey Bregman) strolling through an art gallery on date night, after they've had dinner at the GCAC or Society. Cane and Lily (Billy Flynn and Christel Khalil), who we assume will eventually reunite, are another couple we would add to that list.

The characters who have a background in fashion design, like Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) and Sally (Courtney Hope), would appreciate an art gallery and would find it a refreshing change of pace from the nine-to-five world of business. A gallery would create an array of new storylines for the Y&R characters.

If GH's Port Charles has an art gallery, then how about Genoa City as well?

Even though General Hospital's Port Charles is a hotbed of hitmen, mobsters, crooked politicians, and other unsavory characters, they still find time to visit the Jerome Gallery (run by Maura West's ex-mob woman character, Ava Jerome). Wouldn't it be funny if someone in Genoa City knew Ava, who was able to pull some strings for that person and help them to open their own gallery? (Granted, a cross-network crossover like the one we're suggesting might be a nightmare to negotiate!)

We did see an art museum on Y&R once a long time ago. Back in the late 1980s, Paul Williams (Doug Davidson) first got a glimpse at the enchanting Cassandra (Nina Arvesen) at an art museum, which kicked off the successful George Rawlins Jonathan Farwell) murder mystery!

An art gallery would be the perfect venue for just about all of the characters on The Young and the Restless. They need a place to unwind after a stressful day at the office, a place where they can get lost in the beauty of a painting or a piece of sculpture. It would provide a great escape for businessmen like Victor, Jack, and Cane, whose businesses have all been under attack lately. It would even be a good place for a girls' night out whenever Sally and Audra want to have a relaxing night on the town. Maybe Audra could even be offered the chance for a one-woman show. Then, her dream of becoming a well-known artist could finally come true.
